Jim do they hook most of the trainees up with trainers in the same area so you can get home. You said this was the first time you have been away from your family this long in 30 years. How old are you

Alot of the places we in the flatbed div load require us to wear a harness when were on top of our load to spread the tarps.

Even a quick step off the back of the trailer will trigger the darn thing sometimes but like you said, its better than breaking an arm, leg, neck, etc

and of course your hardhat didn't fall off your head bc you were wearing your chinstrap right? lmao. Other than what you mentioned, you gotta love how the cable knocks your hardhat forward blocking your vision when the cable is directly above you

    Hang in there. lol

From what i can tell from reading your post over and over and over to try to understand what you are typing, you worked for Maverick for over 8 years and was a black hat. When you started at Maverick, it was the best place to drive for because they cared about their drivers until they changed and made it all about the money, expanded, and put curt in the training department to teach the new hires, "the Maverick Way" Not sure what "That gave the hell he talk so bad about Maverick" means but you want to kick his butt. He (curt?) did the same job for tmc until all their trainers said its him or us so tmc fired curt. Perhaps if maverick would open their eyes they would see what's going on and fix it before it's too late. You trained for Maverick for 3 years and loved it until you got off the road to work at home and when that didn't work out you started looking to get back into trucking companies only to find out that maverick had put bs on your dac even though you took their truck back to them and left the right way so they could crap on you.

The last time i read a message that was typed as unreadable as the one i retyped so it would be easier to understand, it was when i was playing online poker with a friend who was diabetic and had not taken his meds so he was not thinking so clearly, I've also had the pleasure of booking in many a drunk in public, dui, or dwi who also tried to write something that was as unreadable as your message.

I suggest if you were not under the influence of anything or perhaps didn't take the medication you were supposed to while you typed your post, don't "toke" anything other than the medication you are supposed to take

If none of the above are the case, being able to read but not write is more common than one would think and vice versa due to dyslexia or lack of basic education. Whichever the problem may be, i suggest you get the help or basic education you need. In doing so, it would definately help you find employment not only in trucking but in any other line of work

Made it home and need to leave out Sunday to just east of St Louis.
Had a very interesting thing happen to me while at Ft Smith.
I was in line to get some shinny bar and had my truck set up. There was a person behind me who I knew. He was the person that I did a trailer swap with to get my very first load. He had told me everything was on the trailer...it wasn't...so I learned to check for yourself.
This person I think was a black hat at one time....at least that is what the driver in front of me told me. The driver in front of me told me how where he just unloaded and a black hat jumped all over his case. When he pulled in there were two trucks in front of him and the rear of his trailer was sticking out in the road. So as not to cause an accident, he pulled in and went to pull past the two other Mav trucks and wait on the side. He said the black hat ran after him screaming at him that he was cutting in front of him. He tried to explain this to him and the black hat called him a liar.
He then told me a story about a friend of his that had worked for Maverick. He was a veteran who had done two tours in Iraq. They were both at the same shipper and there was something that this guy was doing wrong and a black hat started screaming at his friend. He told the black hat that he better lay off his friend as he was not someone to be messed with. The black hat went away and then came back and started up on him again. The Army veteran told the black hat that he better get away from him or he was going to shove his black hat so far up his ### that his wife would need tweezers to get it out....or something to this affect. It turns out that this black hat reported him to Maverick and the guy ended up loosing his job...according to his friend.
So that was the stage that was set for me. I have also heard other stories from other drivers about black hats thinking that they have the right to insult, yell, scream or degrade you for something that you had wrong on your truck...or just call safety on you instead of trying to help you.
The only black hat that I know personally is Pollack...aka sewer man...and he is not like this...he does it right.
    So back to my story.
This guy behind me who I will call AC...is over talking to a couple of other drivers and I walk over to join in as we are all waiting in line. He says to me "What is your strap doing on that side of the timber?" (In a very gruff and not so friendly voice) I looked over and saw that I had it laying on the inside of the board and not on the outside. I would have noticed it before I tightened down the shinny bar and moved it..
I say to him "It is just laying there for now" In a voice which I am sure showed that I did not like being talked to that way. Nothing else is said and I walk over to my truck to move the strap. He walks over behind me and starts complaining that he was hungry . I say to him "Don't you have food in your truck?" He replies "I don't have time to eat". I say (as I am moving my strap) "Well you had time to stand over there and talk to them" He then says "It is too hot in my truck" I start to say "You have an apu on that truck...when he says "come over here and look at this!" We are both over by the side of his truck and he is pointing at his name on the side. " I said..Ok...you got your name on your truck....He says no and points to the 25 years of service...or what ever it says. He then opens his door and gets in and I walk over to the open door. He then says..." Don't ever ask me a F_ _ _ K ing stupid question again. (Remember, the question I asked him is (Don't you have food in your truck)
I said what? are you serious...he repeats it again...and says that he was trying to help me and I gave him a smart ### answer (My answer was correct, that the strap was just laying there for now) I then said I was just messing around with you back and I took your advice and moved the strap. I did not mean to upset you. He says " I was not messing around...so stay away from me! He then gets out of the truck and starts walking away from me and yells again..."STAY AWAY FROM ME......FOREVER! To which I respond not a problem. He then yells at me as I am walking away " Are you the one who tried to drive away with my locks when I did a trailer swap with you?
(It was not me, but I did not answer him as I was instructed to stay away from him.)

What a joke of a person! And what an immature response from him.
I can take any instruction and constructive criticism if it is presented to me correctly but do not talk down to me or try to talk to me like I am stupid.

He loaded up behind me and I saw him around the yard, but I did not speak to him or try to.

So that was the first person in over a year at Maverick that I have had an issue with.

On another issue, I received an qualcom message regarding a dedicated route in Ohio hauling for from Worthington, up near Toledo and then down to Monroe. And back and forth between the three. It will be pulling covered wagons. I sent in that I was interested. I got a call from Bo, who will be the fleet manager for this new account.
He went over everything with me. I will drop down to .38 a mile, receive $30 per load and receive a minimum of $650 guaranteed. They are expecting 8 loads a week and approx 2000 miles. That would work out to $1000 a week.
Worthington is only 30 miles from my house so I would have the opportunity to get through my house possibly a couple more times during the week and of course home on the weekends. He asked for a 30 day commitment which I gave him.
I am going to get my truck worked on in Madison on Monday after I drop off this load of assorted coils. It has to go to freightliner and have the water leaks fixed so I can get the fan working in the bunk again and take the plastic bag off from inside the door of the electrical panel behind my drivers seat.
So I will be driving only in Ohio starting the week after next...for at least 30 days.
It should be interesting...another adventure as I like to say.

    MtDewMan and revrak Thank this.
