the first time I met you sewerman you were extremely helpful, even outgoing so don't sell yourself short. You were one of the few "hats" that I met that I would consider speaking to again.

as far as tarping. I will give a man a hand if I can see the wind or whatever is making it hard on him. I always try to help someone roll up their tarps, unless a certain attitude gets in the way. People have way too many different ways of tarping so sometimes you mess them up more than help.

Unfortunately one of the worst side effects of the e-logs has been the fact that sometimes we cant hang around to help now if our 14hrs is getting close and we need to turn some niles before we hit that mark. Thats why now if Im waitibg to load I try to help the guy in front of me. That way Im not wasting my 14 once Im loaded. In the old days we could all wait on each other and ride together if going to the same customer but those times are gone in most instances now in order to make the most of our time. Its a shame but most of us understand that this is the new reality thanks to politicians who have never driven a truck.

Well, I recieved note that Maverick approved m application. Hopefully I will hear from recruiter today as to when orientation will begin. I would ask all of you to remember me in your prayers. Again, a big thank you to all for your advice and encouragement. You have helped make my decision to go with a wonderful company. I am really nervous, as I feel Maverick is the best of the best. I just hope and pray I can measure up. Again, many thanks. Be safe. Take care. God bless.

Yea I picked up a load of paper in Atlanta, GA going to Fletcher to deliver. I had always heard the docks were tight, until I got there and saw how "tight" they really were. I was surprised that I got the paper in the dock without having to pull up one time. However, when I had to drive around the building to pickup those docks seemed tighter than the receiving dock. I try to help any driver for any company fold their tarps. Because of E-logs it makes it hard to help out now because you are worried about your 14 running out. Burger you are sociable. That's how I found out who you were the first time I met you in Bennetsville, SC; when I had just starting driving for Maverick.

That must be the reason every Maverick driver that I have run into in the last week won't ever say anything....lol

Mav got me home as requested for Sat and Sunday. I also ended with 3200 miles for the week which was nice. They dead headed me from Springfield Oh.
I did get the training on the E logs but they were unsuccessful in downloading to my truck so I am still on paper...I will be happy to show anyone if they happen to be from Missouri...lol
I will give a full report of the week later as I do not have my book with me to tell everwhere I went....should be able to remember...but I do not want to strain my brain!

Just take the attitude that this is one of the most important things in your life right now....except for God, Family, ect....but you know what I mean.
Listen, Listen, Listen....and if you have a question ask it.
Do not engage in any negative talk with others during the breaks as they will be watching and listening.
    Take notes on everything...everywhere!
You will do fine and I will remember you in my prayers...just let us know when you leave to go out there!

I delivered my load of Granite first thing Monday morning and they all arrived without a scratch or a chip...unlike the last load that I hauled that broke.
My next load was picking up at Uniboard USA in Moncure. It was only 33 miles from where I was.
I made a mistake going there that I still do not know how or why I did it. I was going to go South on US 1 and for some reason I took the US 401 exit. I swear it said 1...lol
So I realized my mistake and saw the the GPS was wanting to take me to US 70...so I thought great...a major route so I took the exit. I went up about a mile and the road came to a school and the road I was on became one way coming at me. The road to the left and right were in a subdivision and I could not make the turns into them.
So I put on my 4 ways and walked down the road to the intersection to see what I was dealing with.
There was not much traffic so I proceeded down the block very slowly with my flashers on and was prepared to explain myself if the police stopped me.
No incidents....and I was on my way.
Got to Moncure and they let me in a couple hours early which was nice.
This load was going to Middlefield Ohio to Masco Retail Cabinets.
I then got a load to pick up at Charter Steel in Cuyahoga Oh. A load of slinkies loaded eyes to the side....No tarp which was nice as it was starting to rain.
This load was going to TAubensnee Steel and wire in Wheeling IL. Had to sit for about an hour on I294...but other than that it was no issue.
It took longer for me to roll up my straps then it did for the guy to unload me...he was very fast.
Got a load right away to pick up at US Steel Portage..picking up two coils out of building 54. First time ever out of that door. Got loaded very quickly and tarped and out of there.
I had to run over to the Gary yard and take my 5 minute training on the E Logs...then I wasted two hours waiting for it to download which it never did. So I got permission to leave as I only had 2.5 hours left to go and I wanted to get on down the road.
Of course by then traffic was backed up heading over to I65. Stopped and got fuel and then made it to one of the rest areas down the road.
The wind wad horrific as any of you know that were up in the Chicago area.
My truck was rocking and rolling all night long.
Made my delivery to Misa Steel Processing in Portland TN and got unloaded right away. Had a preplan to pick up at AK Steel in Rockport In heading to Metals USA in springfield ohio.
Got to AK and probably sat in line for over an hour before I got sent up the hill.
Was able to pull into A5 right away and there I waited for another hour as I watched truck after truck get loaded before me. My coil was in section 200 and the higher the number, the longer you are going to wait.
    I got a single coil weighing 48,780.
While I was waiting this young driver from a company leased on with PGT was trying to impress me by telling me how fast he drove and that he kept two longs.
I told him that he would get caught eventually and his csa score would go up and that would be his demise.
At AK, they give you a piece of paper to sign that explains that they want you to put paper on the bottom of the coil and also on the top of it, so that exactly what I did.
It was also on my qualcom instructions.
He asked me why I had so much paper. I told him and he said that he only puts it on the bottom.
I told him that if I sign a piece of paper that says that I agree to follow their instructions, then I am going to follow their instructions...He just stared at me and had nothing to say...duh.
Finally got my coil and tarped in the dark. Got to use the new light that we got from Maverick for driver appreciation week...It was a big help.
Drove back down to Owensboro Ky and stayed at Hillbilly Truck stop for the night.

I was driving on I70 East heading to springfield and the instructions said to get off at the exit 47 and go to the first stop sign and turn right...which I did. WRONG. You need to turn left and then go to the first stop sign and turn right. I found a place to turn around and got to the receiver. There is a very faded out arrow that points to the back of the facility for shipping and receiving. I pull back there and there are at least 4 or 5 dock doors and about l5 trucks and trailers parked all around.
So I stop and go in the first door to ask for directions.
I see a lady crane operator and he very snarly asks."CAN I HELP YOU"? I asked where receiving was. she says "DIDN'T YOU SEE THAT ARROW OUT THERE"? I explained that I saw only the first arrow. "WELL THERE IS A BIG ARROW OUT THERE, YOU CAN'T MISS IT" She explains that I needed to drive all the way around the building to the very last door..
Trust me there were no arrows because I had to go through their facility to make a right had turn when I was leaving because it was no right turn out of the door I exited out of...there were no more signs.
It was already set up that I was to dead head home from there so that is exactly what I did.
Maverick did a great job of keeping me on close runs the last two days so that I would be in position to be able to be home on Sat and Sun as I requested.
They have never hung me out when I have asked to be home...They have been excellent.
The horror stories that you read about in other companies have just not happened to me at Maverick. I feel very fortunate to have found out about Maverick from my friend No Tarps and made them my first choice!:biggrin_25514:
