So what are the chances of being place in one of the new trucks after orientation?

Freight into North Texas is plentiful.

Your chances of a brand new truck are slim. However Mavericks trucks are for the most part 2010 or newer Cascadias. They are not issuing any 2007's to new drivers as they are taking them out of the fleet. You will most likely be issued a 2010 or 2011 truck.

    Dan,
Thanks for the info. I knew I wouldnt get a "new" truck, I meant one with an APU.

All 2010 and newer trucks have electric apu's. My understanding is the heater will more than do the job but the a/c in extreme heat may be a little lacking.

It just depends what is sitting there when you finish. I have run into a lot of brand new guys that got brand new 2012 with less than 200 miles on it.
That was frustrating to me as I still had a 2007.
Even if it is not brand new, it will be at least a 2010 with an APU on it.
They ride real nice, are quiet and have a smooth quite ride.

So far the heater has been fine, but have not been in real cold weather yet.
The drivers I talked to that went through the 100 deg weather this year said that if you close the bunk curtain, which is very thick, they were plenty cool and comfortable.

I hear the heat is excellent but a lot of guys have told me about 6-7htrs is all the ac will give you in extreme heat. Ive heard some say as little as 4hrs but they are probably running the ac too high from my understanding of how it works.

I set my air-conditioning to the center on the hot and cold dial then I put the fan setting on 2. When it's extremely hot out mine will run 10+ hours no problem. I would say it keeps it at 76° or 78° which is just fine with me because he keeps all the humidity out.
