All right jim shake it off. You got off to a pretty quick incident. Now that you got that out of the way you know how fast that can happen. Were done with those right? Just take your time and look at every angle. Maverick will work with you, but they won't tolerate a lot of that. They know you are new. Things happen. They happen to old hands too. You got a couple options there. Next time you are in the rock or heading by there tell your fm you want to see safety. Actually go look up ed or one of the guys in orientation. Last I knew keith was still there too. Ask them what would be best take a safety class and drop the points or let them fall off. Will come off in a year I think, maybe less.
You can drop so many points a year by classes or let them come off by them self. See what they think is best. You are not the first one to do this. So get over it. I punched a perfect round hole the size of a golf ball in the cap on the end of the bumper. Got a piece of tubing sticking out of a bundle in philly and I was told to go turn around. Kind of tight back there at allied tube. As I was turning around another flat bed came back there too instead of waiting a couple minutes he tried to turn around in the same spot and almost hit my trailer.
I pulled up to get out of the idiots way and when I started backing back up I did not see that one piece of tubing sticking out of the bundle about 3 feet and sure enough I found it.To be honest with you when I first started backing I was way away from the bundle, but that stunt that idiot pulled I pulled up and looked out the window in the floor on the door and used my mirror on top of the door. Did not see it. What I should have done was GOAL and then stomped the crap out of the stupid driver...
Anyway we all do things we aren't to proud of, but it happens. Just learn from it...![]()

Well I made my delivery in Jeffersonville Indiana. I am now sitting in Ghent Ky with about 30 other trucks.
I will definitely proceed with caution. I met another driver today who had an incident. He took a safety class and got the points taken off.
Thanks for the positive words of encouragement. I am my biggest critic. I hold myslef to a pretty high standard and would just as soon not have these moments.
I am getting home for Easter then deliver in Baltimore and Delaware. -
Sorry, too, to hear of the mishap, learn from it, and carry on, you've come too far to let this get to you. Look at it as your first & only point assessed incident, and you better keep replaying that backing scenario in every dream you have for the next week or so!! You'll kick yourself in the butt, but YOU are your worst critic. You learned from this, immeasurably, and charge forward to your next challenge.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
Sorry to hear about the incident Jim but those things happen to us noobs. Odds say you are gonna have one in your first 4 months. Like notarps said, get over it and now learn from it and move on. You'll be fine now and always stay on the edge of what could happen. Best of luck and hope to see ya soon out there. I finish orientation tomorrow here at TMC and am going home to meet my trainer over the weekend.
Best of luck, GatorJustSonny Thanks this. -

I used up all of my water yesterday and when I woke up this morning in the staging area, there was a roach coach. I was looking forward to a cup of coffee, but she was out. So I got a iced tea instead.
I called fleet net and the guy that is there every day came over and fixed all of my lights on the trailer. The air leak turned out to be a tire leak from an old plug. The tire was marginal and was due to be replaced.
I had never seen the configuration of the load before, so one of the other Maverick drivers helped me figure it out.
I had to have 21' left for the shinny bar so we loaded the 12 and a 5 in the front. The 19 and a 5 in the back and put the shinny bar in the middle.
Tarping it was actually fun as I did not have to rush because there was no where to go.
This load took me home, which is where I am. I have to deliver on Monday in Baltimore Maryland near Sparrows point. The first drop is the shinny bar, then I have to go to Delaware. to drop the coils. My guess is I will have to go back to Sparrows point and pick up a coil when I am finished.
I can not go to the Port in Delaware as I do not have my TWIC card.
Well that is all for now. It is nice to be home for Easter!
God Bless!
