I left about 0400 this morning and arrived at the receiver about 0615. There was another flatbed sitting there so I got out and started to take my bungies off. Then I thought I would go look and see if he was even up and about. His curtain was closed so I walked up to the door to see if anyone was unloading. No one was in there so I tracked someone down and asked If I could back in and they said sure.
I pulled the truck around and had it ready to back in so I went to open the door.
The unloader guy was there and asks me if the other flatbed knew I went around him. I told him he was sleeping. He says, well you have to untarp. I tell him I was just going to pull the tarps back so he could get the bar off and I would pull out and do it on the driveway.
He then asks me if the other truck is a covered wagon. I told him he was a flatbed and was not tarped. He then says he wonders if he should go wake him up and did I try to wake him him. I told him I do not wake up other drivers.
He says he understood and told me to back in. Whew!
They are very slow there so I was able to fold my tarps in between his unloading.
I pulled out and the other guy was set up to back in.
When he came out I told him I had looked but he was in the sleeper. He said no problem as he was in no hurry.
Another two mavs pulled in and go unloaded. I talked with the one for awhile and the other was a trainer and they went down to McDonalds.
After about two hours I got a load to pick up in Muffinville...at the US steel Irving works. My appointment was 1400 so I was checking in at 1330.
WRONG: YOUR APPOINTMENT WAS FOR 1200------CALL YOUR DISPATCHER!!!!
So I do and they appologize and reset it for 1600...so I have to wait two more hours.
I sent in a message letting them know that I would probably run out of hours before I was to a safe haven since you can not park there.
Got in right on time and got two coils going to roll coater in kentucky.
Ended up getting a violation. Went over 26 minutes.
I called safety and told them I went over by 26 minutes and the reason why.
They ask when did I get the violation....I told them 26 minutes ago (-:
Made it to the pilot in Bentleyville PA and at 0600 there were plenty of spaces...still a few as I type this.
Will head out tomorrow at 0400 est and hopefully will get a load of skidded coils right out of there.
Hope to give you all an update tomorrow.grusco and WhereverIMayRoam Thank this. -
It's official!!!!
The Sand Division will be closed at the end of the present well, which should end Friday. We received a Qualcomm message (imagine that) which said that all sand trailers have been sold. Plus as we all know, the registrations on all trucks expire Saturday night. All sand drivers are to let Van and Bobby know their intentions as soon as possible so they can schedule training if necessary. There will be four of us in class Thursday. That means tomorrow is my last day to play in the sand.
See ya out there.

WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE! -
I had a beautiful ride through the hills of Kentucky on my way to Roll Coater in Hawesville Ky. Got right in to get unloaded and then sat for an hour. I then called in just to let them know that I only had 2 hours of drive time left and not much more on my 14.
I was told that there computers were down and that they would see what they could do. About 15 minutes later a got a load to pick up at AK Steel in Rockport Indiana at 0500 tomorrow Morning.
So I headed on down to the truck stop in Owensboro Ky on RT 60.
Got up at 0300 this morning and then rolled in to ak at 0400 as you can only arrive 1 hour early.
Got sent right up to the prescision cut building and had a very short wait and then was able to back in.
There was another Mav driver in there and he had one of those really wide coils and he was having a time figuring out how to do the center securement. He asked me how long I had been with Maverick and I told him two years. He then asked me to look at it. He had a ratchet hooked on the rub rail. I told him about putting the ratchet up inside the coil and the tightening it.
I had to go over to do my coil and as I was working on it he was slamming things and cussing. I went over to offer assistance and he said he just needed to take a break. I told him to let me know if I could help.
Went back and finished mine and I was in and out of there in about an hour and 15 minutes.
I am not sitting about a mile from Mac Steel Service center in Troy Va.
They open at 0800 tomorrow, but I will head over around 0830 since the last time I was there, it took them a while to get going.
Another truck called me on the cb today to tell me his buddy was starting with Maverick next month...so that was kind of neat.
I was denied detention at North American Stainless because I got there after my appointment. I told my fleet manager that when I was dispatched there was no way I could get there on time.
I kept after him and the csr said she could not authorize it so he said he was taking it up the ladder.
I waited a week and asked him the status.
I shortly thereafter got a message that it had been sent to his boss.
Two days later, I got a check for $52.00
So when you are right, keep after it. Maverick will do the right thing, you just need to get to the person that has the authority or is willing to do the right thing!

Wish I could say that works for IC drivers but it dont. If the CSR doesnt charge the customer or the customer wont pay detention,we dont get squat. Im owed detention from Central States in Lowell for a load that was suppose to be ready at 10am but wasnt ready til 4pm,long story short the CSR refused to charge detention (after assuring me she would) so I got diddly. I raised three kinds of Hates but to no avail. Still makes me mad. I refuse ALL loads from there now.

Well I've been here at the Dallas Freightliner since 10 AM yesterday. Transmission issues. The truck has been ready since about 2PM today & just waiting on the QA guy to go over the truck. So I won't get a load today & more than likely wont get home this weekend. Oh well. I was off all last week anyway.
