My husband is new to trucking and starting Maverick orientation May 6th. Does Mavericks trucks run through Indiana often on Interstate 65? We live close to the highway so just wondering if he would be passing through much? It was a choice close between Maverick and TMC so hope we made the right pick! I have read a lot of posts on here for about a week now and they seem like a good company to work for. Any insight would be helpful. I see Jim the Hut is still with them!:biggrin_25521:

Well the truck is fixed. Again. I rolled out of Memphis yesterday to Muskogee back down here to Ft Smith then home in the morning. Do the drill thing this weekend. Back out Monday for a few days, & back home by next Wednesday so I can go do a flight with my guard unit. Should be back in a few days.

Wow TMC would have been a definite wrong choice. Living where you do your husband will have no problem getting home most weekends. Expecting more than the occasional load thru home during the week is not going to happen. Maverick is a very good company,Ive been here 9yrs.

About the only good thing is the pretty truck. Thats where, imho,it stops. There is no apu on the truck but they dont want you to idle. The trucks arent aerodynamic and they want you to achieve good mpg's. They have so many gotchas (mpg's,idle time, out of route, hours of service, etc etc) that its hard to move up in the pay scale. We get many former TMC drivers here and its unreal the things TMC does to keep you at the lower end of the pay scale. Here at Maverick you get paid by the mile not percentage and a fuel bonus that is paid every quarter on every mile dispatched. That bonus is really easy to get. We dont have any hidden gotchas to keep your pay low, just good pay for good work, period.

newtrkrswife--My hubby and I have been back and forth on 65 in Indiana for the last 4 days straight. Hardly a week goes by we aren't on it and we live in NC.

He made the right choice with Maverick. Hubby thought about TMC too. Soooo glad he went with Maverick after talking to some TMC peeps.

    Good luck to him

What a great day Friday the 13th turned out to be. Unloaded really quick in IN then went to Ghent to load and in and out in less then 2 1/2 hours. Tarped and everything. Now stopped at a Flying J in KY cooking BBQ Ribs on the grill. MMMMM
