Jim, sounds like your home time is strangely the same as mine it seems. LOL I got home yesterday afternoon and got to be in Lansing tomorrow morning for a 11 am appointment. And that rest area is always empty for the most part...anything north of Saginaw is considered "up north". During the summer and snow mobile season it can get busy up there. Have a good week, we will probably get sent to Butler, IN or Mac Steel in Jackson, MI to reload. Be safe brother

    JimTheHut Thanks this.

Quietest rest area I have ever been in. Couple other trucks during the night. It snowed here a little last night.

The truck is back in the shop as of yesterday. The exact same thing is wrong that they fixed last week. Can't get paid sitting at home.

Got my application approved for Maverick today!!! I test this Friday to get my CDL. I have to admit I am worried about the agility test, I am 34 yrs old 6'2" 360lbs, big but not a quitter. How tall is Mt. Maverick and how high is the step that you have to step up on for 3 mins? I want to start practicing.

Im not exactly sure of height but from the looks of it,Im guessing 4-5ft?? That was after I hired in,Ive been here awhile and it wasnt something they done then. The "step" is a rolled up tarp so thats probably 2ft maybe or less.

Although I shifted like (grind grind grind) a rookie for the first couple of nights, i've (grind grind grind) done just fine. The company I went to work for (grind grind grind) didn't require a driving test, as they only hire drivers with 5+ years experience.

Granted, if you go somewhere else and can't pass the "driving test" because you can't shift, they most likely won't hire you. BUT, (grind grind grind) if you need a "driving test" at your next company, you should have just stayed at Maverick. Lateral moves career-wise make no sense.

The test is not bad at all, the step is about a foot high. If I where you (or anyone else thinking of flatbed) I would start ASAP to get into good physical condition. It will help you with test and the job in general. Best wishes and good luck.
