speed traps, weigh stations, red light cameras, truck stops, rest areas, etc. can all be downloaded by the POI community and are updated constantly.

Check out www.poi-factory.com as a basic source. Upload your own or help keep a file updated. The files are as good as the people who use them. Best to choose ones that are updated frequently. There are many many features that every gps has that rarely get exploited.

Both Pilot's web site and CATscales website offer there own POI updated by them to also add to your gps.

 

I followed another one of our drivers out and we went out a different way than I went in, so no, I didn't. The whole W/A was screwy. It said something about scaling in and calling shipping on the phone. They don't even have a scales. Apparently, there's a Precoat in Granite City that it applies to.

 

Granite City is the only Precoat I've dealt with over there. I've only delivered coils there but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen a scale over there, either. You just drive around the building and pull through. Easy in, easy out. Very clean, modern facility. The loading trucks all gather just after a cul de sac and wait in line 4 lanes wide. If your instructions say something like turn west at north gate industrial and then TL at Industrial Dr. that would be the one in Granite City. I never take the crazy directions through town. I come in from the north (xt 3 south to Northgate Indutrial is sooooo much easier than navigating crack town).

 

The one in St. Louis is old and in a mostly residential area. It's where 55 & 44 come together. What makes the directions difficult are they give you exit numbers from both roads. It's a bit of a tight back into a narrow door.

 

I saw that when going to Galion a few days ago. Was going to get off at oh-61. Took OH 95 instead an exit or 2 north of there. Remember thinking it would've sucked if I was depending on that exit to stop for the night. I thought south bound was open coming in and going, though. Must've closed it off, too since then. The detour signs on the northbound side keep you east of the interstate. Not very helpful if your intentions were to cross the bridge...

 

I saw that too on Thursday night. I was depending on one of three consecutive places there on I-71 N to park... Exit #131 Pilot that was jam-packed full, Exit #140 Pilot that is closed off due to the exits being closed, and the Truck Parking Only R/A at mm150. I was lucky to get a spot at the third and final option.

Any word on how long that exit at 140 is going to be blocked?
