Everyone keeps sayin the FM's dont get it,which for some may be true but the vast majority do. This is a two way street. Go sit with your fm for a few hours and see the bs they put up with. It will open your eyes.

Having been on both sides of the fence. Communication is the number one factor in a good working relationship. I would much rather be out my truck then sitting behind a desk then listening to 50 truck drivers whining about everything.
Don't get me wrong there's good and bad in everything but as much in drivers say put the FM in the truck for two weeks.
I'll also say put the driver in the FM seat for two weeks. That way both of you see with the other one has to deal with.
One of the best FM's I've ever had with a 22-year-old woman she ever drove a truck but she understood trucking completely.Flatbedder 1966, JimTheHut and jxu417 Thank this. -
I have to say I am impressed by the professionalism and generally positive attitudes expressed by the Maverick bunch. It is also great the way you are all supportive of new Maverick drivers. It is definitely a company I recommend to inexperienced drivers or those that don't fit our traffic lanes.
We usually haul about 2 loads/day for that shipper...at least during the busy season. Seems like we have had an abundance of loads to MN recently.
Hope you are enjoying a long weekend. Have a safe second half of the year. -
For what its worth, I agree with Dan and the others, but I still think it would be hilarious to have a FM and a driver out in a truck together! Kind of like "the odd couple" scenario.
Dan is right, the FM has to deal with all of our crap on a daily basis too! Ha!
From my (shorter) experience, the entire Maverick Team is top-notch all the way down to toilet-cleaner position. -

I too have been on both ends of the Qualcomm. With some companies, having a former driver as an FM can be a mixed blessing. Although a driver/FM can relate to what you're doing as a driver, he can also read your hand when you're trying to bluff. I very rarely talk to my FM.

Communication is the key. That's what it all boils down to. If people will communicate in a diplomatic manner anything can be worked out.
sewerman, JimTheHut and lonelyswmtrucker Thank this. -
Since I was on yesterday I started thinking back to not long after I was on my own. I believe if I were to read back I would find that I wrote similar things....I know that I thought them for sure...lol
I think the difference now is that I am confident of what I am doing....in respect with having a say in when and how this truck moves. I would have no problem now telling my fm or csr if I did not think that I could make a run on time or not and not feel bad about it at all.'
I know I do not goof off and take long breaks. So If I do not think I can make it, I am confident in what I am saying.
I am not implying that anyone that is having issues, that it is their fault or anything like that....I am just relating to my own experience.
It seems so much easier now than it did my first 6 months or even my first year.
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day...Remember those who gave their Lives for US!sewerman and Flatbedder 1966 Thank this. -
You are welcome to post your thoughts and insights anytime! Have a great Memorial Day! -
thank you. I think That you guys out there in Iowa have a class act. When my neighbor came out there to lease on with you I wish he would have stayed longer. But he lasted about as long as I thought he would.. He had nothing bad to say about you guys and that speaks volumes for your company.
