Thanks Sarge; by Gods Grace in my 44 years I have gained (and continue to do so) the wisdom and common sense needed to know how to behave and when to keep my ears open and my mouth shut in life; oh to have known that when I was just a youngster and thought I knew it all; live and learn from mistakes "and dont repeat" = gain that wisdom; hope that does not come across as a learned it all and know it all, because I sure dont, just reflecting on some of my own lifes lessons and Gods Grace.
"Tip" participation is strongly encoureged; thanks, noted, when/if I will employ that tip.
?, other than the items that I am sure I will be told that I need for orientation/training what else is a must have that may not be on that list; Jim if you catch this post "seeing as you have recently completed training" other than the must have what are some things that you wish you had; that you could have had?
?, during orientation/training what type of shirts are allowed to be worn "may seem like a "huh" ?" but dont want to get there and have T-shirts and find out "uh-oh"; are steel toe boots required "same as before, dont want two "uh-ohs" in a row.
Any other tips, advice, etc. will be greatly appreciated; I realize that I am not there yet; have not even started school yet; and only the Lord knows what the next moment will bring; but I am trying to be as prepared as I possibly can be, as this will be a career transition for me/wife "out of want, not need" and I truly want and pray to be successful; by Gods Grace/Will, I will.
I speak often of the Lord/God; I do so because that is where my/wife heart, love, faith and trust are, not because I am perfect or better than anyone else; I say that because if I ever make it out there and you find me having a bad day (as we all do from time to time) that I appear to be lacking in my faith/trust; and you think back, I remember when he wrote this/that, I thought he was a Christian! just remember, I am just human on this earth and not perfect, just forgiven.
I hope no one has taken offense to the aforementioned/a little about who I am.
Thanks again and God Bless to all; may all you and your families be met with blessings.

Once you finish at orientation, you'll be assigned to a trainer truck and although there is a WalMart near HQ, and a company store at HQ, if you can bring it with you, why buy another? Usually you do not go home after orientation before you go out for the 21 days with your driving instructor.
As far as shirts go, plain tshirts, any color. Long sleeved work best, they can always be pushed up to turn them into short sleeved. I say plain tshirts meaning without "funny" sayings printed on them. What's funny to one person may be offensive to another. -
Just wanted to drop into this thread and say hi. Been out of trucking school for a few weeks now and no luck finding a job in my industry, so yesterday I filled out an app. with Mav. Thanks to all the info on this site I felt like they would be the best fit for me. Less then 24 hours later they called me and had some questions, then later today they called again and said my app. was accepted! Might be in Little Rock by May 9! It is all happening pretty fast, but I guess when a company has their act together thats what happens
. Maybe I will meet some of you guys soon! Thanks for all the info, and be safe.

? - upon completion of training; final eval; is it a daunting task or just a matter of properly employing the things you have learned during training?
Hope im not being bothersome by so many ?s; but when the time comes I really want to make this work with Maverick.
Thanks

Had another good week. I did learn something very important yesterday. Make sure what setting your GPS is on. I had been comparing routes and left it on shortest instead of practical...Fancy Gap as many of you know is in VA. I took US 52 North right up it.
As I was going up the road at 25 mph and admiring how close to the trees I was and how beautiful, I kept saying, I can not believe that I am taking this truck up this hill.
But I had confidence that I would be fine. The thing that I did not know was if I had to come back down the other side. Once at the top it was a short jog over to 77 north. It was quite an adventure (-:MtDewMan Thanks this. -
Wellcome to maverick. -
Fancy Gap is a treat...used to go up 52 pretty regularly with plywood in a dry van. That was in the days before trucks were restricted from coming south on 52. -
