I would just like to ask, that if anyone decides to go to Maverick because of the information that I have posted here, I would appreciate it if when you first contact the recruiter, that you give them my name. It is Jim Menke. That is not why I have posted, but I could sure use the referral bonus.
Thanks!

I thought I would share something funny that I did. I usually get up at 3 est and make a pot of coffee. I take the maker out of its box, make the coffee, pour it into my pilot travel mug and then put it back away in my closet. After doing this, I went to take a drink and there was no coffee in my cup. I wish I could have a picture of the look on my face. I had put the coffee pot, coffee and all, back in the box and put it in my closet.
Fortunately for me, it did not leak out so there was no mess to clean up.
Sometimes even daily routines go south! -
Coffee boo boos are unacceptable... you can forget and leave your trailer at home, but there is no tolerance for coffee blunders...
RAILSPLITTER Thanks this. -

I have to agree with you on the shop guys # Gary IN. 2 weeks ago I needed a slow leaking tire replaced & another one looked at with a 2 inch slash in the sidewall. I was pulling a van trailer, and they said it would be about 4 hours til they could get to it. So I perched myself on the sofa in the lounge for the wait. Wasn't more than 25 minutes later, they came looking for me & had me bring the trailer in the shop. I was quite impressed. Turned out though that the tire wouldn't come off the rim, the hub was cracked, and I ended up leaving the trailer there the next morning for parts to come in. My point is--the guys seem to go out of their way to get you in the shop, good crew there
notarps4me Thanks this. -
(Lol) i think the baby wipes should be in a truck at all times ,whether you drive a van or flat bed.
Esp. for those days you just can't get the time to shower.

Here is the type of company Maverick. I found out yesterday that my Mother was dieing and Hospice was called in. I was busting my but to get to Michigan to Lowes distribution center as they shut down at 2 pm est.
I had bee up until 1:30 loading at Georgia Pacific in South Carolina the night before.
So I called my fleet manager and told him what was going on. He says just a second.
He gets back on the line and says as soon as you drop that load, dead head home.
It was 260 miles.
So I am home and will be at my parents in the morning and will be with her at the end.
I was very impressed by what Maverick did. They do care about you and your family!Road Boss, massparanoia and MtDewMan Thank this. -
Yes they do Jim...
A few years back, when I worked here the first time...my wife went into labor a month earlier than expected. I was in Ellensburg, WA...thats appx. 2,800 miles from my house.
They were willing to let me dead head home...but only after I made 2 more stops with the load I had (no other drivers in the area).
In the end they found me a load, a load of logs going to Indy...it was an easy one, no tarps...just strap it and go.
The point being...they would have let me dead head if they hadn't found a load. -
I feel very fortunate to have started my career in trucking at Maverick! I don't have to put up with a starter company for a couple of years before I find a keeper!
DevilDriver666 and MtDewMan Thank this. -
Well it has been some time since I have posted; been in school learning to get my Class A CDL "which I successfully did yesterday"; I learned/was taught enough about backing to pass my skills test but I sure did not learn enough about it to be profficiant with it in a real world tough backing situation "hope that is taken into consideration during orientation and really expounded upon during time with a trainer.
Speaking of orientation/training; spoke to my recruiter late yesterday; next week they will do their final checks on me and then assign me a date to attend orientation; I feel that I have made a great decision in starting my career with Maverick "and hope that it is a long term tenure with Maverick".
First I want to thank God
