I can honestly say that if I had to go up here on a regular basis, I would find another trucking company to work for. What you have to do just to be able to deliver on time is not worth the money they are paying me. Having to get up at 0200 to leave by 0300 just to be able to get a parking spot so you can get up at 0400 so you can get across the bridge before traffic jams up is crazy.
I am not against having to get up and roll early from time to time...but this is not enjoyable trucking to me. You can call me a sissy all you want, but when you do not enjoy what you are doing then it is time to move on. I am not there...I am just saying!

I used to go up there, sometimes twice a week, when I started trucking with Baylor. You're not a sissy for not wanting to go. It's a pain in the arse, even more so now. When I started it was $20 to cross the GW and the water gaps were $4. What they're charging now is highway robbery whether the money is coming out of your pocket or your bosses. Add to all that the stress of the traffic and the attitudes. I wouldn't want a regular diet of it either.

    JimTheHut Thanks this.

With multi loads it's not the early morning traffic it's the EVERYBODY is up and going somewhere traffic coming out. Hubby is considering staying out 2 weeks so he won't have to pick up at Charlotte pipe Fri. It always means a trip to NY. We've had a different trailer every week for the past 1 1/2 months.

If they don't have computer problems like they did this past Wednesday, Orientation begins on Saturday and you get your job offers on Wednesdays. From there you either stay in NLR for flat bed or Temp Control training or Laurinburg for Glass.
