The trailer i have now must have had a hundred of those darn blocks!! I made a guy at a customer very happy,he uses them for his shop wood stove so he took all but the 20 i kept. I normally dont use more than 16 max but i like a few extra because you never know what your getting. Like a load of several baby coils that need extra blocks in the racks. Why dont i use the short boards for that? You may ask? Because the last load of those coils i got i used every beveled board on my trailer and still had to sit one in the middle on rubber mats and thats it. What a crappy junk load that was! Any guesses where it loaded? No not Ghent.

after I made my delivery in Sumter NC, I got sent down to Gerogetown Nc to get a load of slinkies going up to Orville Ohio. Only had to wait for lunch as there was no one in front of me. I even got to secure and tarp there without going over to the other lot. It was about 70 degrees and I was sweating pretty good. Another Maverick pulled in and we spoke briefly. I told him to go ahead and put his front and rear rack on as close to the ends as possible and if they need to move it, they will tell him. I heard a lot of clanging and I finally looked over to see what he was doing. He had set up his coil racks all the way down the length of his trailer. He did not have all the boards in them yet. So I walked over and asked him how many he was getting. He told me he did not know yet. I then asked him why he was doing that with the racks. He said he did not know. I explained that he only needed one in the front and the back. He said oh..thanks.
So before I left I asked him if he was sure on how to secure it. He said he had hauled a load like this once and you just throw the straps over the top of them. I explained that this was going to be a eyes to the side load and he needed to butterfly them. I explained the process and then went on my way.
IF YOU ARE NOT SURE HOW TO SECURE A LOAD, LOOK IN THE BOOK OR AT THE VIDEOS.....OR CALL SOMEONE OR ASK! Good Idea to review from time to time as well! Made it to Brintles where I spent the night. Did my pretrip and found another light out. I was able to get it fixed there and it only set me back about an hour. I had plenty of time so it was not that big of a deal.
Made it up to the Gulliver Truck plaza to spend the night near Canton Ohio. They have just recently gone out of business but you can still park there.
Made my delivery the next morning as planned at 0930.
Got my next load to go up to Charter Steel in Cuyahoga Hts Ohio going to South Holland Il for delivery at 0945 Monday Morning.
It started to snow right after I got there and I ended up tarping in snow and gusts up to 30 mph. I just took my time and used my bungies and portable straps to keep my tarp from blowing off as I rolled it out. It was a challenge for sure!
Made it home by 17:00 and will be heading for the Gary yard this afternoon right after lunch. Not a good week for miles but I am not complaining
because I spent two days down south and I enjoyed the sun and walking around in a t shirt.
Hope everyone has a great week!

My personal best has been 14 Coil ends on a load. The way I do it the coil of the middle the trailer goes in a rack. The one in the nose and the one at the back everything else is on the floor.

Keep the brain teasers, coming I haven't been stumped yet but am looking forward to it. LOL

The worst load I've had so far was 20 coils loaded obviously eye to the side out of Ghent. I also had a bad tire strapped on the front of the trailer. Two of the coils we had to place inside of other coils! I used 2 cradles in the front, 2 in the back, 1 in the middle and every chain and strap I had!It took and hour and 15 mins just to untarp and put everything away!!!

That happened to us once NC. The worst part was after secured and tarped went to scale out only to find one of them was the wrong one so had to go back untarp and figure out which one was wrong then undo securement to get it off and replace with the right one, then redo everything. Had to end up ordering Papa Johns and settling in for the night.
