Yah depending on the engine you have, Dd 15 vs dd13, the age of the trailer, the size of your gut, how much stuff you "have to have", extra rummage, fridge, dumbbells, winter clothes in the summer, summer clothes in the winter, yada yada, can be pretty heavy. I'm 11812, minimal personal items, no fridge, no microwave, no tv, no computer, minimal dunnage (6,6, & 2) , and paired up with the older trailers, I'm over 31k full of fuel and pee water. If you have the newest of the new, you're pretty light, esp. The daycabs

I just got my cdl permit and start classes on Monday at Davidson County CC. I am thinking about joining Maverick. Can you tell me what the orientation and training is like? I am thinking about the glass division. Thanks for any info you can give me. I am located in Clemmons, NC if you need to know that info! Thanks!

We have never been over 30000lbs even with the 2007 trainer truck. Now, with the 2 of us and all of our stuff, clothes, food, micro, fridge, hairdryer(lol) extra scrap tarp etc we are 29940lbs 2014 truck and 2003 trailer.

Like you, I'm a Glass wannabe. A bit farther along the process, being approved and waiting on an orientation date, but I'm in the same boat. If you search the Maverick thread, there's a wealth of information on orientation, training, and the company. My advice would be to think of your information quest as the first step in joining the company. OTR trucking in general and flat bedding in particular takes a certain degree of self reliance, and while there is no shame in asking for help, you first have to put some of your own effort into the task. Don't mean to be harsh, but if that's too much to expect, then you probably won't like this kind of work.

    Oh, I will!!!

You'll see me continue posting, this Maverick section is a great tool for research into the company, the job, and the people. Like I said in another post, I almost feel I know Jim the Hut, Sarge and some of the others. You can bet I'll be back for banter, info, aid and general knowledge....

    Thanks!

JimTheHut, jxu417 and sarge26044 Thank this.

I put in about 30 hours a week doing research on different companies. I wanted orientation specific info, but thanks anyway.
