Probably been asked on here before but considering the 533 pages...my apologies for asking again. maverick called and offered regional flatbed for my area (ohio). Short and simple...worth it? Finishing cdl school next week and have done alot of research on many companies but i still like to talk with as many drivers as i can. The training seems tough though...doubt i could pass the physical stuff, not very strong.

Can't go wrong with Maverick. Can you lift 60 lbs? If you can you should be good.

Last Friday..two friday's ago, I delivered in Ambridge Pa and then was sent to Follansbee WV to pick up two coils going to Warren Michigan.
I got right in a loaded very quickly. I had enough time to get home....or so I thought. There was a detour coming out of the plant on WV 2 that caused me to spend an extra 10 minutes or more. Then I ran into some heavy rain, so I figured I would just stop along the way instead of getting a logging violation.
Then the rain stopped so I thought I could make it home. Well, I had my exit in sight when I went over on my 11 hrs driving. It was close....lol.
I headed out Monday morning at 0600 so I would get my restart. I had an appointment so there was no advantage to getting there early.
Made my delivery and then got a load picking up out of Butler In going to Phoenix Metals in Birmingham Al for either Tuesday of Wednesday. Their hours were 0700 to 14;30. It was going to be really close for me to deliver on Tuesday, so I opted to stop at the Flying J in Birmingham and go in first thing on Wednesday. When I got there at 0700 on Wednesday, I found out that they do not unload the large coils until 0900. So I sat until 0930 before they told me to back in. While I was sitting there, there was a car chase, Cars blocked on the street. Women yelling at each other, police called. 4 cruises come and one person, the one being chased, hauled away...at least there was entertainment....lol
I was then told to head over to Southland Tube and pick up a trailer and take it to the Utility Trailer yard to be repaired. I did that and then headed back to the Southland Tube yard. I got a load going to Dubuque IA for Friday morning. I drove to the Flying J in Oak Grove Ky so that I could make it all the way to Dubuque on Thursday.
Nice day of driving on Thursday and I arrived there about 1600. Their unload hrs are 0800-1200. When I got there I called them on the phone and told the guy in receiving that I was at the truck stop just up the road so he would know I was there for Friday Morning. He told me that he would call me in the morning. I asked him at what time. He told me some time between 0600 and 0800 when they get their trucks loaded and gone. My past experience is that it is usually 0900. But I was going to get up at 0500 and be ready at 0600 just in case they called. At 04:50 he called me and told me to come on down after I got untarped. I told him to give me 20 minutes. So I started a pot of coffee and started getting my tarps off. Made my cup so I could enjoy it while I was doing my tarps. Drove on down and they were just finishing with another truck and by the time I got my straps and plastic off, they were ready for me. Got unloaded pretty quick and I was back up at the truck stop before 0700. By 0715 I had my next load assignment going to pick up at Gerdau in Wilton Iowa going to Harrisburg Pa.
I made it to Plymouth In where I stopped at the Pilot for the day. I could have made it to Beaver Dam Ohio, but traffic was thick so there was no sense in putting up with it.
I had planned to get up at 0200 Central Time...ie 0300 eastern time and leave and hour later. I did not realize that I had crossed into Eastern time, so I ended getting up at 0100 central time. I just stayed up and got on my way. I was home by 0800 est.
I am going to head out this morning and stop at the flying j in Carsile Pa....18 miles form my delivery. I already have a preplan to to go to Tamko in Frederick Md going to Arlington Heights IL.
So hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend....be safe out there!

All of mavericks trucks in the company fleet have 12 volt plugs in them also they have inverters in them so you can plug in a wall charger for a cell phone, laptop, fridge, microwave, crockpot, George foreman grill, whatever.
