I had the same problem, my 1st time with a trainer. A few more hits and you'll finally get used to it. Then, when you get your own truck, you'll find yourself keeping your head down as you get out of the bottom bunk, for a while. Sort of like you'll find yourself making wide turns with your car, the 1st time you drive after driving the truck for a few thousand miles. :biggrin_2559:
This flat bed work is the most physical thing I had done in many years! We did not eat lunch today but had a good dinner of sauer Kraut and sausage!
I was ten years younger than you, and in fairly decent shape, when I 1st did flatbed, and it nearly whipped me. You have my respect, for what it's worth.
I got new air card today so I will be able to get on here every night. My phone was not working as the air card very well!
Which card/plan did you get? I'm just starting to look at getting one.

Thanks for the excellent posts.

I used to get them big coils out of hot springs going to richmond va for reynolds wrap aluminum foil. I use to hate that place in va. A pain to back in and when you pullout your nose is in the street and you still have to fold your tarps...:biggrin_25516:

Well the old man got the job (regular flatbedding).Hooray! He's now in the barn doing securement training and it's kicking his butt. Just a heads up-- there's a couple of guys selling laptops at the truckstop near Maverick-- Don't Be Fooled! It's a ripoff! There is no laptop inside of the box. My old man said they got 2 guys for $80 last night. Poor suckers.

I came right out of school while others in my class had driven in the past.
You will just have to call them and find out. Paul was my recruiter, but you can call any of them.

We got up at 0430 and were rolling by 0530. I got to get behind the wheel up near Leabanon Ohio. I got to drive for about 3 hrs up to cambridge. It was raining and foggy. Got into a bit of traffic around Columbus so I got some experience. It was wierd being 40 miles from home, but not being able to see anyone. After 30 years of marriage, this is the longest I have been away from my wife. She is doing great and being a great support for me.
We went into PA and rain into snow and freezing rain. It was really neat going through the mountains. I had not been down that way in years.
Tomorrow we drop our coils off in Wrightsville PA. I said Allentown yesterday, but that was incorrect.
AFter that we head for a port up in Delaware. I do not have a TWIC card, so I will probably be dropped off at a truck stop near by or have to wait at the guard shack until the truck comes back out. We are picking up plate steel and taking it to Chicago.
I actually slept pretty good last night. No head banging...so I was happy about that.

We hooked up with another Mav driver tonight and we got to talking about this forum.
He says...So You are Jim The Hut? So be careful what you say on here, you never know when you will meet someond face to face!:biggrin_2556:

Well, that is about all for now. I will get some more driving tomorrow. Keep Safe!

Jim

Well...I know who you are!!!!:biggrin_25522:

That is so funny to be talking to someone and find out that they had been reading what I wrote. We had some good laughs over here in the truck.
He did tell me that I could crash in his passanger seat if Peewee got carried away!

We are both heading to the same place tomorrow and none of us have ever been there before...so it will be an adventure!

Have a great evening!

Jim:biggrin_255:
