I'll be glad to get a new one...these rattle traps are getting on my nerves. I would have gotten a new one when the rear wheel bearings went out on my last truck...if I had been anywhere near Little Rock...but I was in Charlotte, NC
So I got one that was left in Laurinburg when a driver quit...he left all kinds of neat stuff in it though (tire thumper, cool lookin safety glasses, several safety vests, 2 hard hats, tape measure, knife...all brand new) -
That is where I got my truck after the first week when the wheel bearings were going out! -
Hey Jim,
Thanks for the kind words. And no problem. Glad to help.
I ended up getting home Saturday afternoon. My FM said he couldn't find a swap, but I got a call from a fellow Mav driver and a buddy of mine and he had a load going to Charlotte. Mine was going to Centralia Illinois. We got to talking about it and he wanted to go to Illinois and I wanted to go to Charlotte and he was only 80 miles from me. I called my FM and he set it up and we swapped in Toledo and I got home around 2 on Saturday and don't have to leave out until Monday morning.
It was great to finally meet you. Take care and be careful out there.
Later,
Davesewerman Thanks this. -
Sewerman wooden nickel update: His truck (2011) broke down tuesday in little rock, was showing upwards of 8 codes. Long story short, they are having to take the top of the cab off to get to some wiring they think is bad. wont get it back for 2 weeks. Last i heard, his wife is coming down to little rock to pick him up and they are going someplace warm. -
I told him not to be telling people it was a good luck gambling coin!..lol
As for the trucks...I was saying it tongue in cheek. I thought about it the same way...it was a used 2010. I am actually happy with my truck as it has a bunk heater and I put an inverter in it. so I am good to go! -

I still help other drivers as much as possible but tick tock tick tock the 14 hr clocks always ticking. Which brings a couple of things to mind that kinda ticked me off this past friday. One more than another.
1. The one that kinda ticked me off when i thought about it: I was spotting as my student backed in next to two other Mavericks both loading 43K coils eye forward or shotgun. One driver was almost completely secured and told me the Maverick next to him was new and might need some help. I did say my student was backing in. "ok, no problem" i told him. My student backed into place and we got checked in. I went over to the maverick that i was told needed help and offered my assistance while the driver that told me he might need some help tarped his load and left without saying another word. So now i have a new driver that said he needed help and my student. Why didn't the driver that told me the new guy needed help offer any of his own assistance?
and 2. The one that really ticked me off once we left and i found out about it. The Maverick that backed in next to us on our passenger side and watched me guide both my student and the new driver through almost the entire securing and tarping of both coils. My student and i were tarping our coil and when it got down to a point he could finish on his own, i went over to the new guy and was helping him. My student was asked by the Maverick why did we put so many bungees on the tarp and was questioned about how many securements we had on our coil (4 xed thru the eye, one coil block or "dean chain" and two straps over the top) My student was told we didn't have to put the coil block chain on until Maverick started driving cascadias because, "they slam on the brakes" My student said the driver had the same size coil as us, didn't put a coil block (dean chain) on his coil, had three straps over the top, said because of that his coil was "oversecured" and only had 5 coil racks under the coil because they are DOT rated at 10k lbs.
I found all this out after we left the shipper because all of it was told to my student while i was helping the new driver and obviously out of earshot of the b.s. my student was being fed by the other Maverick who btw is going to go IC if they make him switch from his columbia to a cascadia. LMAO.
I dont mind other drivers offering their advice or opinions to my students but if it is not SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) or "the Maverick Way" as we say, then tell them how Maverick says to do it, with the proper amount of equipment Maverick says to do it with then explain to them why you may chose to do it a different way. For example: myself, when tarping, i put my excess tarp to the front of the load rather than the back and put the excess under one D ring length of tarp to the front of the load, and using anywhere from 6 to 8 bungees, bungee completely across the trailer over the tucked under excess.
And if the driver who i described in situation 2 reads this forum: It used to be SOP to use a coil block in front of single coils loaded eye to the front (shotgun) over 30k. That was changed to all single coils regardless of weight loaded eye to the front (shotgun). IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH CASCADIA MODEL FREIGHTLINERS EQUIPPED WITH ONGUARD. Not only are our coil racks rated by DOT at 10K but so are our chains, BUT Maverick underrates them at 8000 lbs so if something is secured to Maverick standards, it is above and beyond DOT requirements. So was your coil, "oversecured"? to DOT standards yes......TO MAVERICK securement standards. NO and if safety should be at one of our customers to see how your product was secured as they sometimes do to make sure drivers are doing what they are supposed to re loading/securing/tarping, you sir would receive at least one safety point good for one year. As far as you going MAV IC if they make you give up your Columbia, might i suggest you just buy your own truck and go totally o/o so the only requirements you have to meet are DOT's and not MAVERICK's?
Be safe.
