drive it in manual. you shift up and down by pushing the paddle up or down. better fuel milage that way (manual).

ween yourself off the stick inbetween the seats. baby steps.... week one: plunger stuck to the floor with a tennis ball on top between the seats. week 2: take the tennis ball off the top of the stick of the plunger. week 3: now that your tired of kicking a ^&*( plunger all over the cab of the truck, remove the plunger from the floor of the truck.

    Choice is your's

I quit riding a skateboard when I was . . .aw heck, who am i kidding, i ridem whenever i can. working on my backside fakie 540 tailflip as we speak dude!

No offense gentlemen, but some flatbedders take offense to being called skateboards, just like some freightboxes take offense to being called door swingers. And for those of you new to "the lingo", a good buddy is definately not what it sounds like. Supertrucker is another one that is definately not a compliment.

As for me, call me what you want just an fyi

if you have less than 6 mos OTR, maverick requires you to go out with a driver trainer for a minimum of 21 days. If you go out with me, yes you will be allowed to accelerate to cruising speed from a complete stop once, but only after you have become proficient at shifting in manual. also after i have had a week to talk your ears off about MPG and how by switching that little thing on the paddle from auto to manual and becoming proficient in shifting in manual (usually takes a day or two) will improve your MPG by at least a half mile per gallon if not more.

No Pet Policy: Alot of the places where we pick up and deliver do not allow pets. Some do not allow riders unless they hold a CDL. I would say because its too hard to put a hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest (ok maybe not the vest) long sleeved shirt, long pants, and steel toed boots on a pet. When going through orientation when i first started and they mentioned "no pets" i asked, "not even a pet rock?" got a few laughs from the students but just a grin from the instructor. Leave your pets at home and if you do get hired at Maverick for crying out loud, dont "sneak" a pet aboard. There are plenty of Maverick drivers out there that for some reason get their jollies by turning in other maverick drivers for doing something wrong in a heartbeat (im not one of em)

Thanks Sarge! We started Load Securement Training today and I am overwhelmed with all the information! We had to secure a simulated 23,000lb coil today; so that when everyone got finished, we could go over each teams securement and the instructor told us what we did right and wrong. He then showed us the proper way to secure it. For once it was a good thing to be set up for failure, because now we know what and what not to do.

Yep, you will be completely overwhelmed for a while. Just do the best you can and retain as much info as you can. It is impossible to get it all in the time you have in "the barn".

I secured a coil and forgot to put down the friction mat (during securement training) and while they were going over and checking out everyones coil he said that "this is a good looking coil" while he was standing ON the friction mat that I had left lying on the deck. Kinda funny.

Keep us posted and let us know what your truck number is so we can say hey when we meet up. It might take a while, but we will meet up somewhere.
