I always do my best to make them look as sharp as possible, but the bottom line is the tarp is to protect the load and as long as I know it is protected, I do not fret it.
I pulled into Hershvogel in Columbus yesterday behind a load of turned bar just like I had and there was only one tarp on it. No tarp over the bulkhead and the back of the bar was exposed.
The driver was wearing a black hat. I asked him if he was a black hat and he said yes. I then said in a joking manner " If you are a black hat, What are you doing not tarping your load properly? He said that he had already sent in a qualcom message pointing out that it was not tarped properly. He got it on a repower at the Madison Yard.
He was a pretty cool guy. I felt good because neither him or the driver in front of them knew that you could put the truck number in for the code the scale was asking you to enter. I had figured it out the first time I delivered there.

The last two weeks were quite the adventure. I had to go to Houston and was going to go acrsss 44. Sewerman called me and told me it was closed going into OK. So I went down 55 to 40 by West Memphis. The next 60 miles was bumper to bumper in 2nd and third gear for over 60 miles due to the expressway being solid Ice.
I ended up going down to Laredo TX later in the week. It was my first time down there and quite the experience. First time I haulded steel coils coming in from Mexico.
As I said, I got hung out and did my restart in Edna Texas. Was not too bad as the temperature was 70 degrees.
Will be picking up tomorrow in Columbus and heading for Alabama.
Hope you all have a great rest of the weekend! -

Hey, thanks for the good advice on hubby's restart last week. Turns out when he went to the truck they had changed his delivery to the next day so it all worked out.
Also, to all you new Maverick drivers : hang it there and don't feel bad if you're a little nervous about being on your own. Hubby called me when he got his first load and boy was he upset! The lumber tarp was giving him a fit and I don't know what else. He was ready to "Take that #$%# truck back to Maverick and quit! " He eventually got the hang of it and we now laugh about that day.MtDewMan Thanks this. -
Winners never quit and quitters never win! lol

I would bet that I quit a hundred times (in my head) that first 6 months. Hang in there..
JimTheHut Thanks this. -
After going through a winter and a summer...it is easier in the winter!
