Also is there anyone else out there that is also starting orientation there on the 27th that I could talk to or possibly meet up with there so I have someone to talk and BS with? New to the industry and very excited to hit the open road and see what the industry has to offer. I just graduated school so I haven't talked to many drivers, more recruiters than anything. Thank you!Click to expand...
Chattanooga orientation- corporate headquarters, more strict, southern accents, different weather, from what I heard covenant motel is okay... There are a lot of smiling faces though. People seem generally happy. A lot going on in the white house. Open door policy, talk to some of the fleet manager in person.
California orientation- more laid back, very tiny terminal, california weather, awesome hotel for orientation. More fun stuff to do in California! Go to the beach, Hollywood, amusement parks...etc. If you are ever in California get a rental car and visit some of these aattractions to get your mind off trucking. Ca terminal not too many amenities like fitness rooms, or multiple showers, restrooms, will be my complaint though.
Yes, covenant has a pretty bad history with their reputation. Bottom line is they are public company so money is always going to be a factor. By that I mean they are in this business to make money. Worry about yourself because that's why you're there as well, to make money too.
Not sure what is the story behind all the hatred with covenant. Everyone has a side to their story -

You will find complaints and compliments in every corner of this industry. I was at colton, california picking up reefer talking to a former swift driver. He said he really liked swift and doesn't know why everyone hates on swift sometimes. He was telling me Swift has many oppurtunites such as intermodal, flatbed, local, regional etc...But then again this former swift driver seemed easy going and easy to get along with. I really enjoyed chatting with him.
See where I'm at getting at here? Sometimes a d-bag will complain whether it's prime, us express, covenant, ups freight. Not because of the company but their character and their attitude in life.
Made me realize you have to think about the character of the person complaining about any situation in life. -

By your avatar I see you're a newby, you're going to be one of those drivers on here complaining in due time.Alot of the problem with drivers such as yourself is you think veteran drivers are on here just complaining and no truth to what they're saying instead you think its just their character.Well you're going to find out the hard way what companies are like,it happens to every driver during their career.
