    Hope you're feeling a bit better, Dustin. Probably a combo of the lil' tummy bug going around my kiddo brought home, and nerves as to 'did i make the right decision?' combined.

    Waiting for updates, and hopefully pics, if ya can... as ya go. Did they get you your Connie yet?

    Be safe;

    Feeling much much better not 100% just yet but at least I'm able to function. I'm currently driving to Atlanta which makes me want to blow my brains out. other than that everything's going pretty good I haven't got a Conestoga yet it's my belief that while they said it would only be a week it will actually probably be more like 30 days I have a feeling that they're going to run me and just me before they go and give me a Conestoga that's just my impression but who knows maybe I'll get lucky and next week I'll have one I'm going to keep pushing them for that Conestoga. I've got two deliveries to make in Florida tomorrow and then deadheading from Florida to Alabama for a pickup on Monday my dispatcher just called me and asked if I needed any money for over the weekend and I said a few bucks would be nice so he said I'll have 500 bucks in my account tomorrow morning and I'll get paid for the loads I'm dropping tomorrow on Monday so so far I'm not finding anything I really dislike and like many of you that are following this thread I'm waiting to see if the pay is anywhere in the ballpark of what they said it would be

    ATL can do that to anyone, hahahaha! Glad you're feeling on the upswing, tho.
    I'm not an open deck guy by any means, but imho... tarps and chains are actually safer, visually..... then again, what do I know. I just like to know what I'm hauling APPEARS safe.....
    Anyone else, @Broke Down 69 ... two cents?
    I remember this: and I cried like a baby the whole day, because I've got a son his age . . . aspiring to drive after the Army. Connies, curtainsides, ... same difference. I'd rather keep the deck open and tarp/chain/strap myself.....!

    I spent 2 hours at a ta last night because the load of steel rods that I have on the back shifted and fell off the blocks so I had to sit there and beg to use the forklift the service department but eventually they let me do it. Thomaston work forklift could barely pick all the bundles steel rod. Load shifts are no joke but I do a pretty good job stopping every couple hundred miles and checking on things and then if I don't feel like stopping I wait till somebody gets beside me and raise them on the CB and have them check my load as they pass me LOL

    One would have to seriously run the numbers to see if their accurate $1800 per week is around $93,600 before tax of course so to make that kind of loot you'd have to be getting a good cents per mile rate plus the miles to go with it @ .40 per mile it would be impossible because you'd have to run at least 4500 miles a week based on an average speed of 63 mph you'd need a rate of ..54 c per mile @ 660 miles per day x 5 -= 3308 miles x $0.54 = $1800

    @aussiejosh .. you pull decks too, correct? Do y'all even HAVE connies and curtains over by you? Just wondering. I'd rather SEE what I'm hauling when and if it were to move, even at the expense of climbing tarping chaining, etc. Just me. I'm not f/b'er but for prefab concrete 'pre secured' (<<ha) but... just imho.
    @HalpinUout ... opinions? opines? ;)

    this is how this is how it was explained to me in an extremely extremely heavy Russian accent, they try very hard not to take full truck loads they try to pick up three or four partial loads at one time to maximize Truck Revenue. I was also told that in no way shape or form am I paid mileage I get 40% of what the truck makes After Fuel and tolls. Not being too pushy I tried to get them to give me a best guess if you will as far as mileage pay would go if it had to be broken down into such a thing and they said that their goal would be no less than $0.80 a mile to the driver. Now I am driving right now so I haven't done the math just yet but for instance this week I am on my first load with them I have to partials on my trailer right now one of them pays $3,700 the other one pays 1650 I had roughly 120 miles deadhead 1450 miles to my first delivery and then 110 miles to the second delivery. I filled up the day I got to sign my truck for $300 and I just put $300 in the truck last night so that's $600 and fuel and since I spent a lot of time up in Chicago and Indiana all estimate high on the tolls and just say 250 bucks in tolls for the week. So somebody wants to do the math on that for the week they can I would do it but I'm driving right now and using talk to text to respond

    Connies severely limit the types of freight you can pull and can hide sloppy securement. Personally, I find both of those situations intolerable. If you current load had shifted in some sort of covered wagon you may not have noticed until a disaster happened. You got very lucky this time...I wouldn't count on luck in the future. The 50-150 rule isnt something you should do a pretty good job of, that has to be perfect.
