Well, all good things must come to an end. After 5 days total of being on my own, I decided that I really do not like the trucking lifestyle anymore. Dealing with loads that make no sense. Waiting in line for an hour to get into a facility. Not being given all the information that you need to pick up a load. Then not being able to get in touch with anyone for an hour while you watch your clock tick down. So i made my last delivery and turned my truck in. The amazing thing is that only being there for about a month, no one cared to ask me why I was leaving. The answer is that they already know the answer so there is no need to ask. Apparently there is a lot of turn over in this division in this area.
So I am ending my thread....i will not answer any questions other than what I posted. Best of luck to all of you in what ever endeavors you pursue! As for me, I am done with trucking!!!!!

Yep, the waiting is what kills the most. Kinda surprised Big Orange was lacking with load info, usually they had all the t's crossed and I's dotted when I worked there a few years ago.
Good luck in your future endeavors, trucking nowadays is a stressful lifestyle! -
As a Schneider intermodal veteran myself -- the above post doesn't surprise me in the least.
The saddest part of the above is that the poster apparently based his CDL career decision all on one of the poorer examples of what's out there -- & made the assumption that pretty much everything else is almost/about the same.
NOT TRUE!

Remember that the OP stated he is 71 and tried retirement. Assuming that's true, I don't think there's any trucking company that would work for him. There were reasons he retired from his last gig, he just forgot what they were.polo king 92, Albertaflatbed, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this.

Going by OP's first post he worked at Maverick tarping flatbed's from age 58-61. That's pretty #### impressive.
I know one thing, the older I get, the more I get impatient. Impatient is not a good trait for a truck driver, or even a steering wheel holder these days.polo king 92, JimTheHut and Lonesome Thank this. -
I am 71 years old And have been trucking since 2010. I know the lifestyle and at my age, do not want it or need it anymore!Vic Firth, Albertaflatbed and Lonesome Thank this.

I'm 63 and agree completely.
The best time I had with Schneider was when I was an IC.
The worst time I had was when I was a company driver. It was frankly astounding how little some of these people knew about trucking and how long it took to get from here to there.polo king 92, JimTheHut, Speed_Drums and 3 others Thank this. -
Clarification: based on the above -- I would really hate to look back, & know that I made future CDL career decisions -- solely from my experiences with Schneider, &/or Schneider intermodal.

Not looking back, looking ahead to something fun. . Been there, done that for 13 years. I can afford to retire if I want to.
