Are you willing to pay for the ticket for tampering with the factory setup?? If so then I will gladly turn my lights off... Here in Canada DRL's are a must.. If you tamper with the manufactures setup then you will be a candiate for a ticket for doing so... So I'd rather inconvenience a driver for a few seconds then have to pay money out of my pocket for tampering with the equipment..
Our FLD-120's have the headlights as our day-time running lights.. Our brand new Coronados have the parking lights as the day-time running lights which... So it all depends on how the truck is setup.. My old car has the headlights at the DRL's. My 05 Silverado that I have has it's own little DRL bulbs, but once it becomes dark my headlights come on and unlike the U.S version of the truck I cannot shut my headlights off using the "auto" lights function.. It doesn't work in Canadian trucks...
So as you can see some vehicles you just can't shut of the headlights.. Without pulling an illegal move as RED as suggested and pulling the fuse for the DRL's... Like I said I would rather keep my hard earned money in my pocket over blinding the cry baby in the truck ahead of me..
There are times and places when trucks should have the lights shut off.. Use your OWN discretion when doing this.. Your the one who has to deal with the consequences if something happens. So if you feel unsafe with lights of then don't do it even if your blinding the guy infront of you.. Cause you know #### well that guy your blinding will not take the blame for you in the event something were to happen with the lights off..
The other day one of our guys was unloading and it was around 6am.. Now I can see where to go BUT this guy had his lights on so this was making it difficult to see where exactly I was going.. He could have shut them off as his parking brake was on... Well eventually after going to the wrong area 3 times he figured I couldn't see so he turned his lights off for me.. After that I backed right in without a issue... So like I said there are times and places you need them shut them off and times and places you need them one.. Just use your discretion.
Don't cry about a guy cause he needs his lights on and don't cry because a guy doesn't have his lights on... There is a reason for both and the guy driving the truck is the one responsible for his actions so if he needs them on then SHUT UP AND DEAL WITH IT!!!!!

Turning off DRL lights without pulling the fuse.
Go to canadian tire. Pickup some 12 guage wire, a fuse holder and a toggle switch and some spade connectors.
Now take some wire and put a spade connector on one end and put the fuse holder on the other end then another section of wire going to a toggle switch. Now run some wire down from the toggle switch and put another spade connector on the end of it. Now go to the fuse box and locate the fuse for the DRLS. Pull the fuse and insert the spade terminals into the fuse location. Make sure that they are not touching each other and put the fuse into your fuse holder. Now mount your toggle switch.
Bingo now you have DRLS that can be turned off at night when in the truck stop. This is especially useful when you park in a TS at night in the winter and don't want to set your parking brakes because your brakes will freeze during the night.
Oh and there is nothing illegal about being able to turn off DRLs when parked. Just make sure they are on when moving down the road. -
well to me thats a no brainer. in the fuel island, off, driving around, on, parking, if there are drivers in front of then on and use your flashers. alot of ppl that drive around the lot without them on tend to forget to turn them on when they hit the rd. my fog lights were so bright that i didnt realize thats all i had on once. better to be safe than sorry i say. if you are comfy with what you do, then go for it, if you are nervous, then dont do it.

My ProStar was originally programmed to have the headlights on whenever the air brake was pushed in. When I was having other work done to it, I requested the programming be channged to give me control of them. It was a few pushes of buttons and no modification to equipment.
If I want DRLs, which I usually do, I turn on my markers.SHC and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
Rat - That is still modifying them.. The toggle switch is just the same as you taking the fuse out... The only difference is now you have switch to do it rather then taking the fuse in or out.... I mean I am sure if you took the fuse out and turned your light on during the day the police or dot wouldn't even know the fuse was out.. I have been debating about taking the fuse out of my truck as well just for the times I would like to shut the lights off with the brakes on... I don't have to worry about T/S as I am home everyday.. I should be getting a new truck soon so since they run the parking lights rather then the headlights for the DRL's I won't need to worry about the lights being turned on...
Your right there is nothing wrong with shutting lights off when your in a parking lot.. It's when your on the road and you don't have them on that is the issue... In the early mornings I still need to use my headlight switch otherwise only my headlights are on (no trailer lights unless you use the light switch) -
It's not the lights that is the problem, it's the dunb ###' that have to blow their horns at other drivers that pisses me off..... if you want to get his attention, do something else rather than blair on your air horn at 2am.

Rollover the Original, Injun and allniter Thank this.

Last week i had this problem in AR. There was a bit of a cluster fak going on so a JB driver decided that instead of getting out and seeing why the exit was backed up, he would just lay on his air horn for 2 mins straight....then again, and again.......FatDaddy Thanks this. -
Backup alarms. I'd like to take one of Meltons trucks and back it underneath their CEOs bedroom window at 2am in the morning to see how his dumbarse enjoys the racket.
allniter and volvodriver01 Thank this. -
