It is a Safety issue if it is dark enough, you never know when a passerby can't wait a second longer for you to finish parking and I'm not going to get to see him when I run him over just because I chose to dim my lights so sleeping beauty across the lot don't get disturbed by the normal truck driver life, for pete's sake go to the dumpster get a cardboard and dim plaster it on your windshield

Some of these trucks have daytime running lights and you can't cut them off unless you set your brakes...

I beg to differ. In many instances shutting off you headlights allows your eyes to better use the lower ambient light as you back into a spot. Makes the difference more times than not.

Additionally, flipping your headlights off and snapping your hazards on as you back in is simply professional and courteous.

Yeah, but those hazards start to annoy people after the first half hour.....

For years I dimmed my headlights while backing. But when I bought this truck in December that went out the window as I can no longer dim them. The first week I had it I got yelled at trying to cross a scale to dim my headlights. I tried shutting off all my lights so the DOT would realize I couldn't shut them off. He didn't and yelled over the speaker some more. So I set my breaks and the lights went out. He finally got it but I got yelled at for setting my brakes on his scale too.

Maybe they should consider working for a company that provides A/C in their units.

Honestly, are their still cabs out there without A/C??? Can't one add one to the cab? I see heat exchangers, or I think they are heat exchangers, on the backside of cabs...

    Honest Question...

    There it is once again...

    Old Trucker Good
    New Driver Bad

And the divide widens even more.

And just who says we would even want to run "back in the day"... I am perfectly fine with my Volvos and KWs of today... They even have Air Conditioning!!!
