I’m surprised. For the first time ever my health insurance went down by about $20.

Terrible Deductable- So lets say you need your appendix removed next year- $28,000 surgery,You just ate 8k of that- So you better break an arm too or need brain surgery to go with it to make that deductable worth it......

8,000 dollars doesnt come overnight. You gotta work hard and long for that.

Try a better deductable like $500 or $1000 tops.Even if your monthly premium doubles...

I’m aware of the risk. The plan I selected is the cheapest available, which I’ve been getting for the past several years that I can remember. I’m 29 now, so I think I’ll beat it. Once I turn 50, that’ll be different.

By the way, I already got my appendix removed when I was a teenager. I remember seeing the bill for $10,000. I only had to pay 3%, which was a little over $300. I think I was either 18 or 19 at the time.

Just trying to help,Im aware that you have a cheap plan-But is it cheap once you need it?

What do they give you 2 visits a year free? with a small copay?

Your best off selecting a plan with a touch higher premium and a lot smaller deductable god forbid something big happens to you.......

I used to think the same way- But when I had a family to cover- I balanced it out to where a $1000 deductable allowed well over that covering 4 people....You gotta outhink the insurance system- They are in it for heavy Profit.....

Prior to 1974- It was illegal for healthcare to operate for profit.

I tend to follow the standard advice of avoiding (most) extended warranties and low deductible insurance plans (of all types). Several “experts” are saying you will likely come out ahead this way. So far, they’ve been correct. I know that it can all change. I don’t see myself getting a better health plan unless I do have a chronic health condition. On top of that, I’m fortunate to be financially stable.

Well he choose his BRONZE plan according to the monthly price.
If I was still in my 20's 30's maybe 40's I probably would still think bullets bounced of my chest. Take the same risk.
$8000 isn't cheap so basically the insurance doesn't cover anything unless something BAD happens. But for a 29yo, maybe not the worst gamble. Part I dont like is it's a hmo.

I just hope they don't screw up the original Medicare for those of us already, and soon to be on it. The monthly premiums go up every year as well as the deductibles. It's far from perfect but it is workable now. Scary to think about the politicians trying to "improve" it.

You’re right. If anything serious were to happen to me, I’d need to fly to TX. Hahaha. The pricier plans are usually PPO and tend to extend to several states.

For 2020, they finally put a limit to the out-of-pocket: $8,150 for individuals and $16,300 for families. Not only did my monthly plan lower, but also my out-of-pocket limit. :)

That's ok. The most important thing about it is that they won't put a lean on your house. That's exactly what the insurance is for. $8 000 can be arranged to be paid in quite many installments. They are flexible with that and they won't charge interests. That's the only good thing about hospitals being "non profit" organizations, which otherwise is a sham.
