Oh, I guess I could put down the smokes. Actually have to large degree in that I mostly use an e-cig. And truth be told, it is readily available knowledge that nicotine actually reduces the risk of altzheimers, parkinsons, colo-rectal cancer, and a number of other things. It is the delivery system (smoking) that is the problem. The e-cigs take away the danger and just deliver water vapor and nicotine.

I guess what is really worse is sanctimonious people that seem to take time to worry about what I do when it has no negative effect on them. After all, I am doing them a favor!! I am reducing the number of years I will be collecting SSI in the future and saving the program for others. I am, by buying tobacco, contributing greatly to health care for children. Just ask Bill Clinton. Instead of calling me stupid, you should be thanking me!

Actually the stupidity going on here is on your part. You just had to make a point and it isn't sticking. You are one of those individuals that will take a jab at someone because it makes you feel good, and serves no useful purpose. It wil not change mine or anyone else's behavior. Yet in your sanctimonious rantings, you failed to miss the main point.... that even a smoker, and a spouse that had preexisting conditions for which she takes medication, can obtain a real health insurance policy at a reasonable cost. And get several tax advantages to boot. Oh... and one more thing that science has determined nicotine helps with... mental acuity and memory retention. Maybe that is why I was able to realize a real health plan that wouldn't break the bank and has side benefits.

Thank you for sharing, now go play in the highway.

If you're an owner/operator (or even a company driver buying his own insurance for whatever reason) and looking to buy your own health insurance, try to come up with a different employment definition than "truck driver". "Truck driver" will put you in the high risk category and significantly higher premiums. Just say you're unemployed.

    Not very good advice.

Failure to complete an accurate application leads to the denial of a claim when claims reviews the file with underwriting. This would qualify as fraud and allow them to void the contract.

OK, fine, then let's just say if you aquired insurance previously, and then begin driving occupation DON'T pick up the phone and volunteer any information they did not specifically ask for .... happy? I think we are all aware of the risks we take when we fill out any sort of application, truthfully, or otherwise. We are "freight movement managers", let them make of that what they want.

Good grief, for all intents and purposes most drivers out here today may as well be unemployed.

    I don't argue that fact.

I used to sell insurance and I have read several instances of denied claims due to such things on applications. One was from application that was 14 years previous.

Insurance companies will do anything to deny a claim anymore.

I only jabbed a little because I was jabbed first. Feel good about it? Not really. In retrospect, it was not the wisest thing to take the bait in your comments and lower myself to respond. We'll let everyone else make up their own mind.
