Yesterday I locate an load posting about ten seconds old looking for a flatbed going Al. to Houston.
It's posted for Full Rate and it's really light just like I need them.
When I get through to the broker lady tells me sure I was willing to pay full rate prices,
but I just had a carrier offer to take it 706 miles for 850 dollars said he could partial it out.
How can you fight total morons on our side driving rates even farther down ?
Heard the BEST one yet on the race to the bottom

That load is called sucker bait. Or bait and switch, take your pick. Some brokers use it as a common tactic to get a load hauled cheaper by telling you they have other people already offering to haul it for cheaper...then ask you if you can match "the others" price or do it cheaper. Get the idea?

I never let it get that far I just say thank you, I'll keep me seat looking out the window,
both pay about the same.
The best ones are the brokers that tell you fuel has went down in price.
With which I respond; yes you are correct it equals about twenty five cents a mile.
Since you seem to be on top of the situation how do you correlate the fuel price decrease to the
over a dollar or more per mile rate reductions ?
They never have an answer.rambler, GO BOT TRUCK, hunted and 1 other person Thank this. -
Last night I was tired and thinking I needed to look into something different to do. Threads like this change my mind.
