I've hauled a few of these crumbs this past week and I'd like to be doing what you do.

Lol. It's a tactic. If the broker is so willing to pay the full rate why would some idiot just say "no no I'll partial it out".. No one is that stupid. The broker wouldn't even tell you. They'd just say it's covered. Sometimes they will lie that they paid more $$$$. That way you feel like you lost a good load and they're a good brokerage so in the future you keep your eye on their loads but they will tell you that certain customer only wants to move it for a certain aka cheap amount.

I was asked for a quote to Texas on 1200 give or take miles including my dead head. I quoted $4500, and that's my bottom offer. Broker decides to give me a speech how he can put my request in but someone is going to take it for cheaper. I told him I don't need to go to Texas and if someone wants to go there for 15 or 2.50 a mile it's not my problem, but if he wants my truck that's the cost. Someone probably did take it for cheap, but oh well I got 2.60 a mile on 1,000 miles give or take and I get to be home for Friday and Saturday. Going to a good area too. This week been kinda slammed. But also that's because I'm avoiding east, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Cali, and etc. 500-700 mile runs through Midwest next day reefer deliveries. A little tiring due to scheduling but good paying rates especially with cheap fuel prices.

When the market turned downward I made myself a breaking point and put it in my head. Which means I won't haul below a certain rate depending on the load, and I won't just look at RPM but the big picture on what can profit. By focusing on that I guess I've had luck. I just turn down whatever is cheap to me such as 700 mile to the east coast for $1900. I need $2900, past Albany Ny $3,800. Maine 4,200. Coming from Midwest. I don't get those rates, I don't go. Reefer. But someone is!!!!!
