so im starting my trucking school on jan 16th and have already had contact with schneider about working for them. im kinda worried about the agility test because i have a high heart rate due to my metabolism being very high. my regular resting heart rate usually runs between 86 and 98. i have been walking every night and walking a mile at 3.5 mph my heart rate has reached 151. other than my heart rate i am in very good shape. does anyone have any insight into my issue?

Have you been thoroughly examined by a professional? Having a high metabolism and being in good shape actually means that your heart should beat fewer times per minute on average due to increased cardiovascular efficiency. I would see a physician and make sure that there is no underlying issue and then if you are cleared to do so I would incorporate intense cardio intervals into your routine. Please see a professional to make sure you are fit for cardio training before proceeding.

have you checked what your (BMI) body mass index is online.
have you done a blood pressure check, can do that at walmart in the pharmacy area.
CO Q 10, Hawthorne berry, Flaxseed oil, multi vitamin, take all 4.
Note it takes a week to get into your system. Helps lower blood pressure with a diet of no processed foods, 1500 calories or less and water or decaf tea only

Not a doctor just my 2 cents

Going for a walk and reaching 151 means you are NOT in good shape at all. I don't hit that high of a rate after running a couple miles.

Like someone said above, something may not be right.

when i say im in good shape i mean that i am 37, weigh 130 lbs. i have no medical issues other than tachycardia. i am a medical assistant and an emt, my employers are aware of my condition an have said i shouldnt be concerned. i am physically fit because i lift patients and cots all day long. i just need to lower my heart rate. i havent actually ran since i was in high school and im starting again now. im hoping by the time i need it to matter i will do ok.

If u think u r fit because u can lift things,ur wrong. Many people that were weightlifters have died young from a heart attack. They looked good but they didnt work on cardio.151 beats per min sounds very high from just walking.I just walked for 30 min and mine is 107,and I'm 46,5'11"and 190.My BP after cooldown is 116 over 71 and 73 bpm.Maybe the more u walk,ur cardio will get stronger and ur bpm will come down.

Im going to my Dr tomorrow for my dot physical. he knows I've had this condition my whole life and has never addressed or seemed worried about it. i might see if he can bring it down with some medication. i really want to be a truck driver and will be devastated if im disqualified because of this :(

Just an opinion here. If I had a high heart rate and my doc wasn't concerned its time for a second opinion being a paramedic you well know how some docs are just not that interested.

Being a medical professional, Im sure you know there are many sources of tachycardia, have you had the proper tests to determine the cause. I would explain to your doctor what your taking on and tell him you will need answers when you get to Schneider and start exhibiting these symptoms. Based on your height and weight, I would say fitness level may play a part, but there might be some underlying issue. You will either do it now, or get sent home during orientation if you do not have any documentation from your doctor. I would find out what Schneider is looking for as far as a range, with mild stress. Any idea what your blood pressure runs on an average.

My bp is good. usually runs about 118/70. will having documentation for tachycardia keep me from getting booted during orientation?
