Last time I worked there they had cabovers, and I had 161000 miles that year !! I seldom hear much good about them anymore. Drivers do call it heartless, whats that tell ya ?

Depends on where you live and what terminal you work out of. I worked out of Kingsport, TN and live in Knoxville, TN. I worked for them right about 9 months. They were middle of the road I'd say. I got as many miles per week as the recruiter said I would (2000 average) and was home 3 out of 4 weekends a month. I did work 2 weekends in one month, but I requested to do that so it was my fault, not theirs.
Their like anyone else, you've got to learn how to work the system. Where I live with my dispatcher and terminal, I'd recommend them, but I don't know how other terminals are. By the way I quit to work for a little local company and be home more. It's working out pretty good. -
do you know if heartland is still offering the refresher driver program or is that on hold for right now with the economy doing bad. Their website says you will go with another driver and get refreshed and than you are assigned your own truck. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. Their cpm is really good.

Yeah, their cpm is terrific. If you like 1700 miles per week.
I, too, worked out of Kingsport back in 2001. 7 months. Best week was around 2900 if I recall. But there must have been a lot a poor ones to make an average of 1700 (I keep close track).
Equipment was decent. Tractors were bare-bones...not even remote-controlled passenger-side west coast mirror or tilt wheel. But trailer maintainance was top-notch. My dispatcher was the culprit here though...she really did as little as possible on the job IMHO.
If I could have averaged 2K to 2200 a week with the mileage pay they offer, that would be fine (even with their lousy insurance). But there was just too much sitting and too many late appointments. -
i worked for heartless xpress 3 yrs 1st yr was great,3000 miles pr wk home every wknd.ran out of iowa city . after that miles started dropping.more waiting for 300 mile overnite loads.after they held you over all day just for that load.fed ex,sears loads.then everybody copped an attitude.had too twist their arm to get home for my girls wedding.after that i left.dont have too put up with that kind of treatment.thier pay is great no miles though.lousy benefits.######## .,,lying people there

They have had trucks sitting in the Ia City terminal for months. I not talking just a few either. Like about 75. They were still sitting there last week when I went by. Search the threads on this company, there are plenty out there.
-
They are also very hard to get onto in the first place.
-
Well it is official.
I had not planned to ever drive for a large carrier again. But being laid off for 4 months and no end in the near future I guess I had to get back working.
I applied to Heartland last week, and paperwork was finalized today and was accepted.
I will be going to there Columbus terminal for Orientation a week from monday.
My unemployment has been enough to cover the bills, so even if they really suck for miles I know I will make at least that much lol.
I will go with them till the economy turns around then look and see how it is. If all is well and I am running then great. If not then I will evaluate the situation then. I am hopeing that since I have seen nothing posted here about Ohio Regional that it is a good thing.
