Hey Chrome, Truthin',
Don't let these guys discourage you from helping others on this forum. I have never worked for Heartland but read alot of company threads just in case my situation changes and need to change carriers. Although I have posted on the other companies I worked for, I would never bad mouth a company after only 2 weeks into my journey. You two drivers seem genuine and truthful not because I like what you say but because you are consistent with your message and seem to communicate well on this site. Keep the information flowing whether it be positive or otherwise. I know it helps me and countless drivers that are desparate to find a home in this industry.
Heartland Express is doing good

wicked wizard thanks you i appreciate the support. i just want other drivers to have fresh start and not wander into a black hole. cause with heartless northeast all the time you get no miles. you sit all the time. you never get home forget your home existed. your relaying loads all the time constantly you almost never get a decent week and they dont give you no detention or layover it's a scam. and all the drivers are leaving turnover %120 it's a fact cause they keep screwing their drivers over they cant keep any drivers. that's why they said theyll pay you high, cause the drivers leave as soon as they start and find out what heartless is all about. any that's why i want everybody to know the truth and no go though what me and everybody else is going through so maybe you guy's can make a better decision. good luck and wish everyone the best.

Be nice folks, no insults or bickering please.
You and disagree but please do it in a respectful manner.CondoCruiser Thanks this. -
You say night driving is "unsafe"...? How So, please explain..?
For my experience night driving is the time to "get er done"..!
Less traffic jams open road driving, with less hassels from D.O.T.
In the summer time it's cooler, better on your equipment, and yourself then the heat from day time work.
In the winter, reduce your speed, keep the tractor pulling the trailer, if it's too bad for the weather, get off and wait till day break. (your the captin)
By your own writing here, I understand why you sit alot waiting for that next load, when you could move at night which you refuse to drive..?
If you've told your "fleet manager" you won't drive at night, you put a nail in your own coffin.
Your limiting your revenue which they have to find you "day time" loads...!
Trucking ISN'T a 9 to 5 gig there Bro....!
You got to ready to move when the freights ready.
If it's ready to move at night, then it's got an "AM delivery" window.
Heartland's all about being ON TIME...!
You deliver your loads on time, you will keep moving with Heartland I did.
Maybe you should revisit what you want or expect from trucking, and the terms which you will work under...?
If night driving isn't 1 of them...? That could be trouble for you...! -
I would like to know where you got I don't drive at night out of what I said. If you would read what I wrote then you would have never wrote what you did. What I said was driving at night or any other time with little or no sleep is unsafe practice and with Heartland you better be ready to a lot of that. Please tell me where i wrote I told my fleet manager I wouldn't drive at night...oh that's right you can't because I never did. It funny how the only thing you could even find to try to cut on what I wrote was about night driving and you can't even get that right. Please highlight where I said I don't, won't, can't, driver at night. Here is what I meant about Heartland sitting you...(deliver at 2200 then shut down for your 10hr break, in the am after sleeping all night you get a per plan picking up at 2230 and delivers the next day at 0800 and that load is only 250 or so miles.) if I'm under a load I don't play around I get it delivered on time every time even if it means driving at night. The next time you reply to what I have wrote please get your facts straight and don't assume I did something I didn't. Oh here is another example of Heartland sitting you (sit for 15hrs (10hr break and 5hrs waiting to get next load but wait once again load canceled hr before pick up, 40 mins new load picks up 3 hrs so now sitting for 18 hrs and they double per planned and the 2nd load picks up 17 hrs after 1st load delivers but wait once again the 1st load canceled so they pull 2nd load and now new loads picks up the next day in the am. Wow that sitting because I don't want to drive at night???? That's right I have been driving for 3 yrs and never figured out that driving is NOT 9 to 5 job.

No need to get your "doom n gloom" up with me...lol
In your own words " I meant to say"...!
You did say, "night driving was unsafe" (maybe you should review your own thread)
Heartland's a good carrier driver, if you can't make it work for you, that's your problem.
With a nights sleep after delivery, then a day to prepare for the evening pickup, and run for 250 miles 6 hours run time, give or take an hour, what's the problem of being tired...?
Anytime time I'm sitting and waiting for the customer, is my relax'n time.
Why get your blood pressure up for something you can't control....?
Carrier's are at the mercy of their customers, when it comes to loading or delivery schedules.
So it's up to me to be ready when it's time to roll driver.
250 miles shouldn't be a "big deal" get their early enough start your next break.
I'm not here to pass judgement on this grief your feeling, just give you some options for you to think about, and incorporate an approach to what you feel is a problem..?
But your own details tells me your not happy, or is it you just need to vent your frustration...! -
The best advice I've ever heard someone say. "What is your favorite color? If you like red, there are a few companies with red trucks, black, go with one of them, but ultimately, they are all the same. So pick your favorite color or model truck and just stick with it." Any driver who has been out there awhile knows, the grass isn't always greener. One can offer you more pay, but they fail to tell you that you'll sit more. Or it is for loaded miles only. Maintenance might stink, or benefits. But in the end, they all even out. Pick a color or truck, and go with it.

Cyanide Thanks this.

I'll agree to disagreeing. ha ha. I am not a fan of red either. But, I didn't say there weren't differences, what I was saying, is what one lacks, another might offer, but lacks in a different department. Some might get you home more, but then you might get a crappier truck. One might pay you more, but lack with maintenance. But in the end, you need to just find one that suits your needs best, and just stick with it. Seems like after a month or two, drivers just want to jump to another company without really giving the current one a chance. I know once my dispatcher and I learned each other habits, it was easy running for both of us.

Here is a recent check for one weeks driving. thanks to those who have asked me to keep up with this.
all loaded and mt miles paid at 48 cents a mile. this is not a listing of each day, but is a listing of each load. more than one load on some days. System fleet by the way.
72 MT miles 268 loaded miles on first load
50 MT miles 503 loaded miles on second load
30 MT miles 349 loaded miles and so on..
0 MT miles 223 loaded miles
18 MT miles 152 loaded miles
0 MT miles 188 loaded miles
179 MT miles 454 loaded miles
2486 TOTAL miles for the week at 48 cents mile plus $130 in accessorials/heartland cares paid $1,323 gross pay.
I've heard some people say it doesn't matter what your mileage rate is if you're running shorter loads at times. I would disagree. this is 48 cents per mile. at 32 cents per mile would have to run over 4100 miles to make the same pay as this. would rather go with 2500 miles and make the same money or more.Cyanide Thanks this.
