Yup, happens all the time. Usually its for their Sears or Fedex loads that they do. At least they are preloaded, and generally you can bobtail park at Sears and then start your clock when the preload is ready. I told my dispatch that I just got a very good 10 hour sleep break and I'm ready to go, not tired. So I'm suppose to be up all day (cause now I'm wide awake from sleeping all night) and then drive all night? I put in a lot of 24 hour days this way, struggling to not fall asleep at the wheel. Very dangerous and lucky I didn't crash. Glad I don't tolerate that anymore. Put me on days, or nights, don't flip it every other day, cause flip it twice and a whole day is wasted that week! Now granted the 48 cents per mile makes up for it, but being awake 24 hours and then losing a whole day production isn't fun.

Those two accounts Sears and FedEx are like their prized accounts. I was told that cause of where I live, that I could expect most home times to get canceled in order to cover their FedEx loads cause I lived near one of those FedEx airports. I had to fight for home time, deal with "there are no loads heading towards your home, so we work one more week then see if we can find a load home" when I'm sitting in NJ and need to go west for home, they have no loads going west?

Average home time was 12 hour period for about 1 or 2 times per month, cause your forced to go home WITH a load, which dictates when you go back to work. Great, I can do laundry, sleep, and go back to work, something I could have done at a truck stop. That's not home time.

The 48 cents per mile if you are system (From Rocky Mountains to the East Coast) and then 50+ cents for north east (NOT worth it) but there is a lot of bs to put up with, and no respect.

I idled my truck all the time and only got spoken to briefly once. Inverter? Just hide it. The rest you already know the drill.

Average mileage was about 2,000 miles per week at 48 cents, but you'll be up 24 hour periods and rarely see home. Some can handle that, some can't.

Oh yeah, heard rumor when I was working for them that your suppose to get automatic extra pay on your load if its under 600 miles for the weekend. And that's what I'd get on average for the weekend. So getting loaded Friday evening, I'd get near the destination around Saturday night, but have to wait until Monday for appointment. I'd ask dispatch for more miles, but they said they didn't have anything else and to stick with the load. Ok, Sunday at the truck stop, might as well do laundry, check email, etc.

So later when at Iowa City, get dragged into surprise meeting with dispatch and his supervisor to discuss how things are not working out, how I need to improve etc. Now they had nothing specific to talk about, so they decided to look at my logs and loads on the computer, and go back day by day an discuss everything. They said, "Oh, we see here you sat for 36 hours on the weekend without driving, your not being productive sitting at truckstops all the time". Umm, yeah, I did all 600 miles by Saturday night and wanted more miles but didn't get it. They should have been thanking me for not wasting time. Honestly, I think they were piss from when I told them I already had 10 hour break and complained about having to be ready in 10-12 hrs for priority load that night which would make we awake 24 hrs. I did all their loads, short, long, day, night, but ANY complaining will put you on their #### list and eventually lead to termination.

Yeah, they don't allow pets, and they don't like passengers. Single bed and passenger sit isn't air ride or adjustable. I heard they do have double beds for teams though.

I drove for Heartland a few years ago and after 17 years of trucking I can say without a doubt, this was the only large company that ever took care of me. They paid well, Had plenty of miles and got me home when ever I needed it!

I agree. Seems its the big companies that I been with that are able to keep their promise of home time, getting me home for medical or dentist appointments.

So someone working for a medium size company like Heartland might make a minimum of $1100+ per week, and miss 2 or 3 dentist appointments in a row, which sucks when your half way through getting a gold crown, wearing a temp on the tooth, and told sorry no loads going west, guess you have to work 1 more week before we try again. Just not worth the money sometimes.

all of these large companies are about the same, (some a little better than others)

it all depends on how much abuse you are willing to accept, whether from prime, england, heartland or anyone else you want to add to the list

you are either a company driver, a lease-operator, or an owner operator

but keep in mind, as long as you are a company driver, especially for these large companies, you may as well put on your red dress and high heel shoes, because you WILL BE PIMPED and treated like a mule

You drive a plane for heartland or some ####, you never get caught on traffic, never waiting for a load. Now you are talking about how much your dispatcher make or you make, you ####. How much you getting pay to promote heartland?
