Sometimes I don't wait at all for my next load, this winter being the exception so far in my short time of doing this. I have been waiting anywhere from 2 days to a week, but I won't pull cheap either. Most all of last year, other than a couple of occasions in the NW, the only time I had to wait was on a weekend for Monday to roll around. My deadhead percentage has been pretty steady at 30% pulling 93% 7 axle, 6.5% 6 axle, and .5% 5 axle stuff. Other than an odd week for me I stay out 3-6 weeks at a time, and go home for a week or two. I weigh 50,000 empty, so there is rarely a legal load that pays worth me even being remotely interested. Our 2 company 4 axle trucks are paid on percentage, I don't know what the number is though. From a drivers perspective, I wouldn't want to be paid on a salary, unless it was a very lucrative number.

When I get home seats are going to be replaced, just haven't decided which ones to buy yet. Shop around home has Atlas II's for a reasonable price, not sure though.

What do you guys use for keeping your ratchet binders spinning freely? I've inheritated a nice rusty set with my new job.

I use penetrol penetrating oil from Schaffers. If they are all rusted up soak them in a bucket of diesel for a day or three and they should free right up. The key to keeping them spinning is running them back together if you're going to store them in the weather.

I use 80w-90 gear oil on mine, and like was said before, running them together when in storage in the elements or not getting used for log periods of time helps quite a bit

I've been using chain saw bar oil.
Works ok....nate980 Thanks this. -
Biggest problem with a heavy oil is that it picks up a lot of dirt that is hard to get out of the threads.
