Funny how things have changed. Back in 79/80 I was training with a guy that used to haul paving equipment. Used to haul a roller and paver together on a 2 axle low boy. Gross out somewhere around 100-115K. We used to also haul Cat D8 dozers on the same trailer. With a old Autocar and a Detroit it was a screamer.

100K, still only 20K per axle. No big deal. But 20K with a reducible load and no permits is life in prison and your first born now. See that stack of concrete I loaded on beams? Two of those blocks are 100K, we stacked 8 of them. You were probably sitting on top of a 6v71 Detroit that was 250 HP, thats a lift motor on our trailer, and we have two of them... Yeah, things have changed. I do love talking to the old timers who did heavy haul with no engineers or computers. You had to have a pair of cannon balls in your BVD's to stack 500K on a cable lowboy and hope you had enough brakes to slow you down on the Grapevine. Those pioneers were bad**s back in the day. Its hard to find any of them who lived through it but when I find one I bend their ear till they cant talk anymore.
