I'm a 47 year old male that sold my manufacturing company six years ago. I've been working with my wife, of 25 years, helping her to realize her dream of becoming a legitimate kennel operator. After satisfying the over burdensome demands of the County and building for her a state of the art facility it is now my time.
As a child I had two loves, becoming a commercial airline pilot or driving the big trucks. After selling my business I researched entering a pilot training tech college and was stunned when I learned that pilots earn a paltry beginning income of no more than $16,000.00 a year and can earn as much as $35,000 a year after five years of employment. I gave up my first love.
At the time I still had my four sons at home and knew that even if I selfishly pursued becoming a pilot I would have no home left to return too. I also knew that the schedule of truck driving would be similar to that of piloting so I decided to postpone my entry into that profession as well.
Well it's my time now and I am ready to begin.
I have a small farm and would like to broker my own loads, when I'm driving, and broker for others when I'm not driving. I would like to drive during the inclement weather of norther Illinois and be at home during the more reasonable weather. I also have a small farm in Tennessee and would base my driving operations from that location. This way I pay myself to snow bird and avoid the arctic winters of the Midwest.
