My name's Mike. I'm 23 years old and have been driving a 2012 20-odd-foot air-assist-brake non-CDL International Terrastar Maxxforce box truck for roughly 6 months. I attended college and nearly finished my degree when I was doing an internship. Upon working in my field, It became painfully obvious that the choice I had made, was not the one for me. Shortly after, I started working at a quick lube shop to keep a steady income, and after that I had stumbled upon this small time trucking job.

I currently work 5 to 6 days a week and drive at night for about 7 hours a night. I have no debts, no children, no girlfriend, and a small family that I rarely see given my current hours of work and sleep, as is. I've been thinking about getting into long distance trucking given my situation, and my actual current love for being on the road. Waking up to go to work to drive a truck is the peak of my day. Washing my truck after some serious salt/sand from the snow that's been falling in NY as of late, is something I enjoy.

I've saved some money and will most likely have to locate temporarily to an area with a proper driving school. I'm in the NY area. The closest swift Terminal is about 200 miles North West of my current location. I've been reading through this forum for quite some time but never made an account. I thought, as my time approaches. Within the next 2 months or so I will make the jump from a lowly box truck driver(don't get me wrong I love my little terrastar. It was a great way to start my driving career before getting a CDL), to a full CDL long distance driver.

I've always been pretty easy going when its come to this, and picked up any slack and any hours I could to help someone or a fellow co-worker out. I look forward to joining the team of fellow truckers and hope to share some crazy stories in the future.
