    Hi everyone, I drove OTR 32 years ago but moved on for a few reasons, Now with the economy in a shambles, Ive decided to go back to the trucking industry. I went to a small local truck driving school, got my class A, double,triple, tanker and hazmat. I got hired by Swift right out of school, and before the Swift slams start, Im very happy for the job and thankful to Swift for chance. I will be going out with a trainer driver this tueday and very excited to get out there. Looking forward to getting to know you folks. And thank you for such a great website!

    Welcome FlyingDog! You can do all of us wannabes a favor by posting of your adventures with Swift. There is a lot of Swift-bashing that goes on but, I think most of it is because they are such a big target. With nearly 19,000 trucks out there on the highways, it's inevitable that Swift trucks will be seen more than others. But, they do train new drivers, so I'm sure some of the bashing stems from that fact. New drivers are going to make the rookie mistakes. Have a good ride!

    Welcome flyingdog. First off, let me say that I am one of the clowns that bash SWIFT a lot. OK, don't never take it personal. Don't really know much about the company other than the messes I have seen.

    There are a few drivers on here who work for SWIFT and are quite happy with it. I think it mostly depends on the DRIVER and his ability, knowledge and most of all ATTITUDE. A good attitude will keep you happy with a whole lot of problems, while a bad attitude will make any job seem like it sucks.

    Welcome to the forum, flyingdog! You may get some razzing here, but please know that most of it is done in fun and it's not directed at anyone personally. There are some really fine people driving for Swift.

    I'm quoting Big Don, below, because I think he pretty much hit the nail on the head...

    Not taken personal at all Big Don, maybe some day I will join your ranks, ha ha. Im just glad to have a job ya know. came out of construction, been out of work for about 6 months, hate not working and Swift is giving me a chance, I owe a dept of gratitude and at least will give them six months to see if they are the right outfit for me, got a call from my driver trainer, he,s in L.A. and on the way back, sounds like a great guy. Swift went to some lengths to find a guy I would pair up with well, so.... here we go, ha ha
