Good afternoon everyone !
My name is Geoffrey, I'm 18 and I live in Lille the 4th city in France. I registered on this forum because I would like to be truck driver in the North America.
Why? Because it always was my dream and I'll do everything to realise it. If someone could help me to find a good truck driving school in Canada or in the USA it would be really fantastic.
And I would like some informations about every papers I need to immigrate. Do I need a high school diploma or not? What are the requirements to be truck driver ...?
Have a nice day. Thanks

Bon jour Geoffrey, et bien venue.
This is not the best place for immigration info, try googling the "Department of Homeland Security".
And its a long process. You have two choices
- If you go the employment route, you will need a qualification such as CDL, and a job offer with an employer willing to sponsor you.
- The other route is a family visa, if you have relatives in the US willing to sponsor you.
Expect the process to take 1-2 years. And cost a lot!
Est-ce que vous etes Francais? Vous avez le Visa Waiver Scheme, pour vacances de 90 jours dans les etats-unis. Vous ne travaillez pas la pendant votre vacances, mais peut-etre vous parlez avec des compagnies de camions?
Alors, bien venue! Quelle fait le temps en Lille?simplyred1962, GeOo, kickin chicken and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes I'm French and No I don't have Visa "Waiver Scheme". I just want to get every informations to come and be truck driver in the USA.
I know that in Canada it's easier to be truck driver due to the relationship between France and Canada, they recruit a lot in the trucking industry so I think I will try first to be truck driver in Canada and come later in the USA. Wednesday, I go to the Embassy of Canada in Paris to get some informations about recruitment in trucking industry, papers I need to immigrate and prepare my travel.
I'm not talking with trucking companies but I sent E-mail to Canadian truck driving school and I'm waiting their answers.
Il fait très beau à Lille et vous quel temps fait-il chez vous?
Have a nice day.kickin chicken Thanks this. -
Il fait tres beau ici, aussi!
(Je suis a Londres aujourdhui, mais nous habitons a Idaho, dans les Etats Unis.)
"Visa Waiver" is a European system of allowing their citizens to visit the US without needing a visa. You can stay 90 days, but not work.
As I said before, your only options for immigration to the US are either an employer or family visa. You will need a sponsor from within the US, either a relative or an employer. There is no other route to residency/green card, unless you are very rich and set up a business there!
I think Canada will be easier for you, there is a forum for Canadian drivers here and I think maybe there will be some good information there for you.
Bonne chance!Baack, simplyred1962 and kickin chicken Thank this. -
