Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm 35, living in Milwaukee. I just got my permit a month ago, applied with Swift, talked to a recruiter that kept mispronouncing my name, heard and read horror stories about Swift, decided to apply with Roehl and got a response the next day. They made me take another dot physical+drug screen right after the interview which I passed. They said i'm medically cleared and they have a starting date for me on 8-22-2016 at their CDL school in Appleton WI, exactly a week from now. This was last week monday, I haven't heard from them since, no email, no phone calls, no snail mail. I emailed the lady that interviewed me last week Friday and she told me that she has me down to start employment on the 22nd and that is all she said.

Can someone please give me advice (maybe someone that worked or is currently employed with Roehl) about how to obtain more info on where and when I need to be there (I'm driving to Appleton), what should I bring with me or if I'm even hired. I'm supposedly leaving in a week and I know nothing about where I'm going. Is telling someone they are hired and not contacting them typical trucking industry behavior? Do I have to hound them for more info or should I wait a few more days to be contacted? I have yet to inform my current employer who is also a long time friend that I am leaving, because Roehl isn't providing me with more info.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Very strange. I know when i talked to a recruiter at gypsum express it was nothing like that. I taked to them every other day up until i left for indiana for orientation. So u may want to call thier recruiment hotline and talk to another person and see what is going on so that u dont miss your opportunity.

Thats not at all what happened to me either. I got daily phone calls from my recruiter. She was actually required to call me daily. She emailed me a welcome email w a list of required items to bring, such as important documents and papers and what clothes + equipment. But i dont know your company. Good luck.

Ooops i see you posted this a week ago. By now you have your answers.

I hounded my recruiter via phone and email and got all the info I needed. I'm at the hotel Roehl put me up in in Appleton WI right now, starting my orientation first thing tomorrow morning. Maybe she's just not a very good recruiter, I dunno. I'm here and that's it counts.
