WHOAHHHHH....THIS IS SOOOOO SCAREY BEING A TRUCKERS WIFE...BUT SCARIER FOR THE NEWBIE TRUCKER!!!! MY HUSBAND "JUST LEFT TODAY" 1/29/08 BY BUS FOR A 12HR RIDE...EXCEPT 4.25HRS IS A LAY-OVER IN DETROIT!!!!! STRANGERS HACKING-COUGHING, & BUMMIN' CIGS/$$ DURING THE ENTIRE TIME HE'S THERE!!!! ALL HE'S BEEN ABLE TO EAT SINCE 8AM WAS A FEW COOKIES & A BOTTLE OF WATER!!!!
ALSO, DURING THIS TIME IN DETROIT, HE'S HEARING THE BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT HAVE SUPOSEDLY STOPPED AN AWFUL LOT OF TRAFFIC NEAR CHICAGO??? [HE'S HEADING TO OHIO], & THE WEATHER ISN'T MUCH BETTER THERE EITHER! ONCE HE ARRIVES AT HIS DESTINATION, HE HAS TO CALL ABOUT 3 PEOPLE IN THE BUSSINESS HE'LL BE WORKING/DRIVING FOR, & THEN MEET-UP WITH HIS TRAINER TO START DRIVING RIGHT AWAY!!!! MAN I HOPE HE GOT {SOME-SLEEP} & FOOD ON THAT BUS BEFORE HEADING OUT TONIGHT IN THE AWFUL WEATHER CONDITIONS PERDICTED!
HE'S A GOOD MAN, WHO WANTS TO LEARN, & DO THINGS RIGHT!!! I SURE HOPE HIS TRAINER TEACHES HIM WHAT HE NEEDS TO KNOW, & NOT BE A BUGGAR ABOUT THINGS. MY HUSBAND IS WELL AWARE, HE HAS A LONNNNG TIME TO GO TO BE ABLE TO GET HIS OWN TRUCK, & NOT BE A THORN IN ANY TRAINERS SIDE. AS HE WAS LEAVING THIS MORNING, HE SAID..."I'M ONLY ONE SHEEP IN THIS FLOCK & I HAVE TO GO WHERE THEY LEAD ME", HE HAS NO PROBLEMS WITH AUTHORITY FIGURES,& HE HAS A GREAT SENCE OF HUMOR, SO IM SURE HE'LL BE A GOOD STUDENT FOR WHO-EVER IS HIS TRAINER! I'M JUST A CONCERNED WIFE, THAT LOVES MY HUSBAND, & IM SOOOOO VERY PROUD OF WHAT HE HAS ACCOMPLISHED, & IS WILLING TO ACCOMPLISH! HE'LL BE AN AWSOME TRUCKER!!!!!! THANKS FOR LETTIN' ME BABBLE, I NEED TO:biggrin_2551: TALK TO {SOMEONE}!

It sounds like your husband has a positive attitude and an understanding of what he's getting into. I wish you both the best of luck!

I've only been around these forums for a couple weeks but it seems like a great place to connect with other people that are in similar situations. Might as well use it to your advantage!

Best wishes and keep us updated on how things are going for him!

:biggrin_25519:I can totally understand where you're coming from. I'm sure it's a frightening/exciting experience for your hubby and even more so for you.

This is a great place to spend some time and get your mind off the bad things. There's a ton of great information, a lot of which discusses the positive aspects of the industry.

Best of luck to you both!!

he will be alright. Heck if you can live through being stranded in Detroit then he can do anything.

He's already got a couple of pluses working for him right off the bat. His attitude and a wife at home that supports him. I know it's hard but you need to just relax and let the training take it's course. Keep the group posted and good luck.
