2010's can be DEF or just EGR engines.
    BIG difference between those 2.
    So more info is needed.

What I told you earlier, both could be emission nightmares.

I had a 2010 KW with a Cummins and it went thru 3 regens a day and would leave a trailer of smoke behind that would only rival a 40s steam train. Honestly speaking man, your just gambling with your luck with these two trucks.

That would be an easy choice for me. I would go with the Detroit and I have never owned one before. I had a 2011 Pete with the ISX that liked the shop so much that it spent about half of its time in there. The company I worked for had lots of trucks with the ISX and it was very common for them to start having lots of emission system problems at about 200,000 miles. I remember one time in particular, that I went into the Cummins shop because it would not regenerate. First day, they replaced the turbo and injectors, and were going to replace the DPF filter (all under warranty), but after waiting on one for nine days, they cleaned mine. (Nothing like being able to diagnose the specific cause of the problem, I thought). Then after the warranty ran out I got to replace the DPF filter then two weeks later the catalyst ($10,000 for the last two items). After that expensive lesson, I try to stay with carriers without age restrictions on tractors (which are few and far between) and run the old pre-EGR engines.

Resale for the Pete will be better..they build to many freightliners..and companies will buy them for a lot less that you can..and when you want to trade in your freightliner..you have hundreds to compete against when selling or trading in

Detroit's are having the same problem...if anything look at a truck with DEF..they seem to be better..

  7. Well I have a 387 , since your gonna run Cali. Find an older 06'. Save your money we have till 2018. Don't blow your money on a 2010. You can have an 05' or 06' and have a shop put a DPF filer on it. Its way cheaper than the 2010_shop repairs.
