    :biggrin_25512:Hello all!
I ran my own painting business for 7 years then everyting went south on me and after months of trying to find something - Anything - I gave up and decided to give trucking a try. I figured there would always be a need for truckers. I've always admired the big riggs rolling down the road and wanted to try it, so I finally do.
And now, after spending a lot of money to get my CDL I can't find one that hires new drivers. Even Swift and Werner wont talk to me! Then I read a lot on this website - LOTS of negative stuff! Have I entered the wrong field again? And how do I get a flippin job!?!
    Any info helps. Thanks.

Could it be that your MVR has some kind of conviction on it? Do you have a sordid past where you were in trouble with the law in any way? Any bankruptcies?

Probably not. Be glad that swift and werner won't talk to you. There are plenty of places that will hire students some have slowed way down because of the economy but there are some that are still hiring. Try TMC they are a pretty decent company to get started with. They will train you and pay you pretty decent as well, better than most who train students. They will slao get you home almsot every weekend depending where you live. Good Luck

Alright - I applied on the TMC websight - sound like a good company to work for!
    Thanks.

TMC is picky as well. If you have skeletons in the closet doubt if they will call you.

I think Swift and possibly Werner may have a hiring freeze, I don't think a 15 yr old DUI should effect you that much, stay positive, maybe try some companies in your area.

I believe TMC also stopped hiring new drivers. Most companies that were hiring newbies stopped when the economy went south. I got with Crete just before they stopped. Werner is not worth your time but I would check with swift and JB Hunt, two less than perfect companies but you could put in your time until this economy breaks and then you could go anywhere.

Go anywhere ? Not likely . Experienced drivers with 5+ years will get the good jobs .
