    Calling all long-haul truck drivers!

We are a group of students in Pittsburgh working on a project to improve on the electricity supply in trucks, and hopefully make the life in a truck more comfortable. If you would like to help us evaluate our concept ideas and tell us about what is important to you as a driver, please comment below or send me a direct message and we will get in touch with you.

Thank you & be safe on the road!

Could you elaborate more on your project and what you have come up with so far?

What more do we need? We have Internet, sat TV, fridges, micros, AC and Heat. I have shelves, drawers, tables and a bed. What can you offer?

    Good point,

Our scope is in the electricity supply and A/C of the truck. We are figuring out ways to get the driver as much power as needed for cooking, entertainment, and comfort. Right now we are testing out the management system to make sure the controls give the options you want and no unnecessary clutter - that the system is easy to use quite imply. We're also looking for some insight into (1) what GPS and fleet management systems you have and (2) the flow of your work-day and work-week.

The team is consist of an electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer, a designer, a PR/marketer, and me from SCM/operations. This is an integrated product development project at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. We are all doing this because we want to improve the work situation for truck drivers, and for that we need to understand the job and the life.

Asking specific questions might get you more useful replies. I know my husband's electric APU doesn't have the most efficient A/C.

    Reduce NVH on APU's?

That's all I can think of, I don't use a lot of "toys" in my truck.

Shore power of 2000 watts be good for power inverter but that doesn't provide heat or air conditioning for driver comfort. Their are Apulia that provide this but some many states have no idle law and then their is a battery operated system called park smart that work well as long as batteries are charged up but extra batteries add weight plus cost of these system's and their maintenance costs as well.
As for navigation system I used a garmin 760 works well
