That is why hubby got what he could -except hazmat for now. Make youself as attractive as possible to the employer. Check w/the DMV or check on line

    No problem!

ORG Nice thread, I'm in school now and may I suggest that you get these three endorsements?
HAZMAT (Written test only) In my state it is only $10.00 and about 20 questions about Hazardous materials and the containment of them.
Tankers(written only) Again same as HAZMAT Cost here is $10.00 20-25 questions on the test.
Doubles and Tripples, This way you can haul line haul for UPS Conway Fed Ex ground Etc. In my opinion We are getting in at the right time, Not knowing much about being a super trucker will help the cream rise to the top, If I can help you with anything let me know. TD.

    treydavid,

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like the route I'll take when I go to get my CDL. I want to be a versatile as possible, and certainly show I'm committed to the career path I'm taking.

The finger prints and background check can be a real PITA, but worth it if you want to open as many options as possible as a driver.

question about Hazmat- does it have to be renewed more often than the regular CDL- isn't it a limited time period like every few years and then you have to re pay for back ground check etc again?

    Thanks!!

you may renew your HAZMAT when you renew your CDL. Yes you have to summit to a back ground check.

Thanks Saddle tramp-was just talking to hubby and that's what he thought and why he was waiting on it. Thought he would get some time in first other wise may have to renew and never have used it.
