The kids messed with my husband's cb and now I can't get them back right. It was coming in clear and now it's hard to hear people because of the static and echo's and I'm not getting out either when I'm talking on it.

    Jg3492 Thanks this.

How do I adjust the knobs to fix it and which ones do I turn? I know this is a stupid question. I do know what each knob is, I just don't know how to set them. Thanks!

If you know what each knob is...it's pretty self explanatory...Turn the unit on, then (for example) turn the selector knob to channel 19 and if anyone is out there talking, you should be able to hear them...

Now you need to check the radios DK (dead key) and see where your at just to be sure you even have a Dk...First Key the Mic and watch the needle on the meter and see where it moves to.

If it moves all the way across the meter or doesn't move at all, then adjust the knob right above the Mic Jack that says "PWR-MON" the inside knob adjusts your DK...with the Mic Keyed, turn that knob till you get the needle pointing at least 2 to 5w's. The outside knob is your talk-back adjustment so you can hear yourself talking...If you want to do that then just turn it to the right until you can hear yourself in the speaker.

Next check to see if your signal is getting out by speaking into the Mic, the needle should move at least half way across the dial...If it doesn't then adjust the Mic gain knob which is right next to the Power on/off knob...(turn to the right)

If nothing is still happening make sure you have the switch that says "MODE" set to AM which should be all the way up...

Right next to the PWR-MON knob there is a Band selector knob, it needs to be pointed to D....

The other switch's are "R.B.= roger beep" you can leave that one off
NB/ANL is just your noise blanker switch's set it in the middle
the last switch sometimes are different depending on the age of the radio, but if it says "DIM" thats just to dim the display lights down..it could also be a 10Khz switch which needs to be in the off position.

Only other knob is on the bottom far right which is for your echo...just have it turned off...

There is one other button, next to the channel selector that depending on age of the radio could either be a Dimmer button or a 10Khz button, make sure it's in the off position.
