I got towed into I-40 Tires and Truck Repair in Cookeville, TN.
They seem like good guys to me, but I have work that in all fairness is a pig in the poke, and must be done on an hourly basis, not a set price.
Any opinions on this shop, and their work, good or bad would be appreciated.
PM, if you want it to remain anonymous.
Thanks.

What type of repair is the shop doing to the truck?
-
For simplicity sake, lets just say it isn't something that if I where in their shoes, I would want to give a firm price before work begins.... They want to do it on an hourly basis, and I don't blame them.... there are unknowns involved that will only be revealed once they get into it. At the same time, my standard practice is to agree on a price before work begins.
I understand that they are being fair and reasonable at this point on refusng to give a firm price at this point. That said, I am always nervous dealing with a shop I have no history with, without a deal on a final price. In this case, that isn't fair to them, and although I understand that, I am nervous getting into an open ended, by the hour job with strangers to me.
We will be taking down an entire drive axle assembly, and replacing with a used assembly I had shipped in. The details are irrelevant, and complex, so I'll leave it at that.
Does anyone have any experience with this shop, and from your experience, do you think them trustworthy? PM if you want to keep your opinion private.
Thanks, -
The hourly price will also tell you a lot about the shop and how trustworthy they are.

Google them and see what comes up, You might find some reviews on them.
But at this point it sounds a little late, Maybe its better to just wait and try to not worry about it.
Hope it works out for yajbatmick Thanks this. -
Madi Roberts says they are crooks on a google review... then there is a 5 star review with no comments.

Any good shop would be able to tell you what it would cost to take a drive axle assembly off and replace it with another. That isn't rocket science. I'd listen to 'tow614', trust the local knowledge.
I just looked for 20 mins on the web for something positive about the place and found one 5 star rating with no name, probably the owner rating himself. The best of the rest was 1 star with notes on impounding trucks and loads in their yard! Sorry bud, wish it was better news. -
I did find this place: Cookeville Truck Repair, (931)520 6014, 2544 Highway 70E, Cookeville, TN
A+ rating with BBB. I have no personal experience of them though, just searching the web. -
I wouldn't hesitate to take any advice offered by tow614. You'd be hard pressed to find better advice.
It's far more trustworthy than any 'data' or anything you'll find online. jmo
