Hi everyone!! There is something wrong with my C15 CAT motor but I dont know what is it.. Pls help me figure it out...
The motor shuts off on me while Im idling or while Im driving, but the strange thing is that it turns back on by itself right away.
Yesterday it happened a couple of times when i was waiting for my load, I was just sitting in my truck idling and the truck suddenly shuts off and turned back on by itself right away less than a second... and it happened while Im driving too, same thing it shuts off and it come back on by itself... other than that the truck runs perfect, it doesn't shake and no it doesn't smoke... I took it to my mechanic and they plug in the OBC to check for codes but no codes were found... have anyone experience this before?? pls give advice...
Help!! C15 Problem!!

THe freightliner I was driving would do that too. It would give me a low voltage warning though. shut off, then come back on.

I've already got all four of my batteries and cable replaced.. same thing

funny thing is that it did it six months ago, it went away and it came back last week....

Sounds like something loose at the ignition or a wire grounded off somewhere.......just my .02

Theres a lil ground strap on the ecm, if your facing it its gonna be on the left top corner of the ecm, make sure its not broken. If not it could be the timing sensor acting up, but that would throw a code.
If not its the ecm itself going bad, ive had something similar but it would misfire, replaced the ecm and its gone. -
The small issues like this are very hard to find. I was left on the side of the interstate several months back. As I was going down the highway the truck would shutdown. I would not push the clutch in and it would come back to life. At the next exit my co-worker and my self had the dash torn apart. While we did not find "the" issue that time we did figure out that we could indeed start the truck with the cigarette lighter, (loose wire). Anyway it turned out to be and ignition/jake brake wire inside the vavle cover that was grounding out cause the relay to trip thus shutting the truck down until it could cool off. I will agree with most everyone on here by saying fist check all of your grounding straps and grounding points. Then check your ingnition system. THis should take you some while to check.

thanks for the replies Ill definitely check my ecm and my grounds to see if I find anything

Go to your battery box and check your fuses. You should have 2. Make sure they are tight in the fuse holder.Look for corrosion and clean it with wire brush and put something on it to keep it from coming back(I use Hitack because it is cheaper than the stuff they sell for that purpose). Now if every thing looks good start the truck and start wiggling wires till it dies and you can hopefully find the problem.

Not to long ago i had the same problem but with a C-12. One battery lead was broken inside the boots on both ends. (Was a ground jumper strap). Both the hot and ground wires were broken going to my ecm. But they were making and losing just enough contact to keep it running for awhile then shut down. Would pick itself right back up. Couldn't figure it out and kept running then it shut completely down. Just happend to grab the hot to the ecm and it broke the rest of the way. A quick patch job and it was good till I made it back to the shop.
