HELP!!! Can't get out

Based on the radio broadcasting 1/4 mile, I'll assume this import has been converted to the CB band. At least it is on channel. Freq counter should read 27.185 when the radio is tuned to CB channel 19.

Until the standing wave (SWR) is checked and adjusted, don't expect much. That is key to a pleasant radio experience, regardless of the brand of the equipment you're using.

On a four-wheeler, I'd want the Wilson antenna. I suppose on a high profile vehicle, like the Tahoe, a shorter (2') antenna will keep you from disturbing the squirrels, but a bumper mounted steel whip is best.

One last thought. If your Galaxy 88 is a "H/L" model (I'm almost certain it is), it has a high/low switch to reduce the power in those instances where you're really close to another radio and don't want to overpower the other unit, or, if you desire to flip on a linear. If that switch is in the low power mode, it will reduce your ability to "get out". Push that button, key up the mic, and look at the meter. Repeat. Which ever position caused the meter to swing the furthest is the high power mode.
