ive heard some will pound a piece of 4-4.5 in pipe ( like well casing pipe)thru muffs. i would think this would not produce good flow. never done this myself. why not use straight thru muff ? they are direct replacement to what you have now. also cheap and quiet. i run them on my 06 MXS. very happy with them.

Put a couple of Dynaflexe's,They are cheap and look like a factory job for around $55. BTW it will be kinda hard to break the cat/converter while on the truck cuz the converter part is on the bottom section of muffler just look for the spot weld's on the side of your muffler.Good luck............

IF you have a dpf on the truck you may not be able to swap out the mufflers. The dpf puts out so much heat that they are actually discoloring the exhaust stacks. Also I think it is against the law to replace any of the exhaust with any thing but OEM parts if the truck has a dpf. I have heard that this law covers the whole exhaust and I have also heard the it only covers from the dpf forward. If you can replace the mufflers, I would go with either the dynaflex or diesel injection mufflers. Just don't go to straight pipes. This day and age you need some noise cancelation.

You can't remove any of it for the purpose of eliminating it! Have a look at the sensors that go the muffler. You simply can't leave them unplugged or install a blank or empty exhaust piece. The ECM needs to see certain pressures, back pressures and temperatures that only these components produce. If you disconnect these you will start with a Check Engine Light and very quickly have engine derate to the point the truck is undriveable, then a Stop Engine light! These are emission required parts that are electroncially tied to the engine. The catalytic converter is used to increase the temp of the exhaust gases to burn off the trapped unburnt fuel in the DPF.

07 truck is likely 06 engine. poster did not indicate DPF.

FWIW, google DPF bypass kit. co in ST George UT sells them

From what I saw of these mufflers on display at Louisville a few years ago. I wouldn't do anything to them, but remove them. The inside is not made like a normal muffler with a set of baffles inside. You won't be able to get good flow by trying to make them a straight through muffler. Buy a set of Donaldsons off road mufflers and you will more than pay for them with the fuel mileage increase
