Mine too. I always drop it off and get proof that it was done before I leave.

If your state doesn't have proof from you that your DOT Medical card is current, or you recently got a new DOT medical card and you didn't send a copy to the state with your self-certification, that is one way to have your CDL canceled or downgraded to pasenger car liense. Another way is for your HazMat endorsement to expire and you have not renewed it or exchanged your CDL with HM for a CDL without HazMat. In my state a some other states just letting your HazMat endorsement expire will cause your CDL to be cancelled. You are in charge of your CDL. Your company is nor the responsible party. In my case I never got word from my state, but my company did get a letter from the state on the day the state my CDL was canceled due to not renewing my HazMat in time. The date of cancelation was bout 30-60 days before my HazMat expired or my license needed to be renewed.

My state has a web site I can check if my CDL is still enforce or see a brief explanation of any issue. On one of my previous DOT medical cards, I got a new exam before my old card expired. I sent a copy to the state, got verbal confirmation the state recieved the new card, and self-ceretified as using my CDL in the proper category. A few months later I got a letter from the state saying my CDL would be downgraded in 30 days if I didn't send in a copy of my new DOT card and self-certification, the one they acknowledged having received some time earlier.

Did you send a copy to the state with your self-certification? The timing is about right for the state canceling your CDL because they don't have DOT card or self-cert. Did you send those in and get proof the state received them?

SOME sates require you retake all of your computer tests for each endorsement when you move in. I don't think any states requires you to re-take the driving and backing test. I think IL require you re-take the pre-trip, which nobody passes the first time.

It's your CDL and your responsibility. The company may be doing you a favor by handling this for you, but you have to verify the state has the info on your DOT medical if you want t keep your license. If this turns out to be a medical card issue, don't worry. If you promptly provide the DOT medical card to the state AND THE SELF_CERTIFICATION your CDL will be immediately reinstated and employers may or may not know your CDL ever had a problem or they may be able to know but not judge the matter as important. I forget, in my state if you have your CDL reinstated within 30 days or maybe 6 months it's like it was never canceled.

I would contact the department of motor vehicles in your state immediately, in person if possible.

Well I’ll give ya my experience with this setup we have now….

about 7 years ago I was checking on some insurance. Man that I had talked with called me a few days later to give me a quote.

During our conversation he stated that my class A had been knocked down to plain standard driver’s license.

After contacting the DMV here in WV I found that they considered my dot physical incomplete because the Dr had forgotten to write down the expiration date of his certification.

So after getting a new complete copy of my physical I drove my butt right straight to Charleston and watched them enter it into the system.

It may not be your fault at all, check all the avenues but mainly contact your DMV and get the reason for it from the horses mouth….
